I have a MTD yard machine Model -11B021C516-#.5 HP-20" cut.
It will start and run for about 3 Min. then Quit. Carb. has been cleaned, Tank has been cleaned,New air Filter, New spark plug.Still will not run for more than 3 min.
I HAVE DRILLED A HOLE IN THE GAS CAP and NOW IT WILL RUN ALL DAY LONG.
Why did I have to drill a hole in the gas cap to make the mower run?
@saltpeperjim The gas cap is defective. The caps have a vent that allows air in but stops air flow out. (Clean air regulations) When the gas level lowers it lets air in so to prevent a vacuum. So if the cap doesn't vent properly, as the mower consumes gas it will stop the gas flow. I have seen this with defective caps and also when someone uses the cap from a gas can on their mower.
Thanks for the video. Mine did the same thing, I replaced the parts and now it starts fine. One weird thing though, after it runs a while and I stop it to refill gas or something, it won't re-start, it acts like it over heated. Any suggestions?
I have a Toro lawn mower with a Tecumseh engine that does not always stay running. Therefore, I would hope that these suggestions will also apply to the TNT100 engine (TNT100 is a Tecumseh engine sold exclusively to Toro).
I dont have this particular type lawn mower but u sure do make this look easy. Mine does same thing so I am going to try and fix it by looking at ur video.
