  • You might find this crazy / interesting but there were some aspects of his accent that were very much similar to the accent spoken in the original county of Norfolk here in the UK! ( the accent I thought I was going to hear as our Norfolk is also on the coast) So yeah it was a shock to me, but a good one :) especially how he says "gohw" "bowt" "traaks" "traahfic" "bootiful" and the grammatical use of "them" instead of "those"

  • @nwalsh1 That's very interesting. I'm from Norfolk (not England) I was told to loss my accent if I want to be able to be a newscaster in other parts of the US. But if I get angry or upset my old accent would come pouring out. I'm sure it was a shock to the people in my newsroom

  • @exnewsanchor thas a shaym bor!

  • You really don't hear this accent that much anymore in the 7-Cities. The large influx of transplants from the Northeast may have something to do with it. But it's still alive. I know a couple of 30-something well-to-do yuppies who sound exactly like the elderly gentleman. Cool video!

  • Cool video. Love his accent. I'm from Norfolk and always love hearing people with that Tidewater dialect.

  • It's always cool to talk to old people about times before. Always thought it'd be kinda cool to do interviews about times forgotten.
