this band is amazing, saw them with edwin on there scenery and fish tour, what a tight band, the drummer was so solid, and great guitar playing and singing, had chills running down my spine, i miss them to
Woah. that was intense. it gave me chills! WTF happened!??!?!? why don't they make 'em like this anymore?? WTF is with the plastic wrapped B#$%#T we are forced to listen to now?? This was AWESOME, unfiltered, dirty, sweaty, ROCK.
Anyone ever hear of a band called King Apparatus they were from Ontario around this era.King Cobb Steelie had a great sound too.The best underground music scene I know of is in Peterborough On these days in Ontario. The WeberBrothers have my attention.
Oh man - what a riff. The first few rows near the front were the place to be at IME's live shows. "Feeeeeell Heavvvvvv-yyyy!" Look out! Always brought got the crowd going.
I totally miss these guys. One of the best Canadian rocks acts of the 1990's -- bar none.
Yeah, you're right, you totally and completely backed up your point with intellectual arguments so obviously you have totally proved with intellect why you're right and I am wrong. :P Moron, lol
I think all of IME's albums have sounds adopted from different music scenes. Just because they didn't have the late 80s-early 90s funk rock style they had on Dig, doesn't make SaF a bad record. I don't even care that they changed their image and style with every subsequent release because I think they have a consistant quality of musicianship. As a matter of fact I'm glad I got to see what they could do with basically 4 different sub-genres of alt rock, instead of just Dig
To be honest, it has nothing to do with SaF not being Dig 2 more then SaF not really being a standout of awesome music. Again, music is personal to the listener so obviously there will be some who find the album inspirational while others who will find it to be disappointing. One More Astronaut in parts (chorus for instance) is okay but besides that and a few other riffs (ex. bridge of 'Used to be alright') I find the album rather boring.
Dig was addicting, the guitar was constantly ongoing almost singing in parts, the bass underlying yet moving, the drums rose to accentuate the overall spirit of the music, and the singing was accented by anthems at times. All of this feeling was gone from SaF. It was completely different which again one might compliment them for not doing what Metallica did in the 80s with the Lightning/Puppets/Justice albums (for instance - not that I am knocking Metallica, just using it as a contrast)...
but the problem was it (SaF) did not stand out as original OVERALL, it did not stand out with the kind of quality and originality that parts of DIG had. DIG was music that was a potential movement in the making, had it been followed up by something with similar awe inspiring rhythms such as you hear in the druming of Rain Will Fall, the guitaring intro of Not Quite Sonic, the vocals of Levitate. I didn't want a Dig2, what I and others wanted out of SaF was more unique, awe inspiring...
...uniqueness out of the type of musical anomaly found in IME that could have formed the foundation of a new genre of music. Therefore, when SaF was released and we heard a lot of seemingly Seattle inspired music it was a huge disappointment since it was already done and IME had a unique flavour to it on Dig that had been cut asunder on SaF.
Don't get me wrong, Dig is my favourite by far- but some songs on SAF just complete the IME experience for me (like Shortcut To Moncton and Jag and Bruce's amazing guitar/bass synthesis on Earth Sky and C)
eaglescream you must be eating retard sandwiches again. If your refering to there second album scenery and fish is a fucking masterpiece- one of the best albums ever. Your the first i've ever heard to say that. It sounds nothing like the seattle bands, the album might be a little more polished than dig, but it's still genius.
Funny, most rockers who I still chat with that loved dig feel the same way about 'scenery and piss'. Explain to me what is so great about it as the videos from it were seattle inspired and most of the songs were completely from that vein as well. They totally changed their look to match the Seattle scene, but then again what do I know, I just explained in detail why it sucked while you just noted insults without actually backing your point of view :P
Actually, one might argue that Scenery and Fish was a departure for them from the "Seattle scene". If one were to compare the cinematography and for that matter clothing of this video to say.....the video for Alive by Pearl Jam, there's a notable similarity. Not to mention by '95 when S&F was released, the Seattle scene as you call it had pretty much become mainstream for the time.
Am lucky enough to have seen I.M.E. pre and post Edwin, at small venues. Both shows were good, but (no disrespect intended to anyone) Edwin was the MUCH better performer live. Would be nice if they got back together. I'd pay to see that show.
There is a rumour that Edwin is starting a band with the drummer from the Tea Party and the guitarist will be Mike from Our Lady Peace!!! I may just crap in my pants!!!
with their originality and metal like music in some songs mixed with their radio friendly and equally orignal stuff they would own the rock world today.
I suspect you never heard their disappointing second album. Their first album, Dig, was AWESOME but after that they tried too much to be another 'Seattle alternative' band I felt instead of just being themselves, such a shame
This band is amazing! I just recently heard this song on the 102.1 the Edge radio station on my way to a soccer game. It's an amazing song! They should have been more famous! They should reunite sorta like rage against the machine is doing!
You never know...I saw an interview with Brian and he said he wouldn't rule it out and they all still get along. He also still used the word "hiatus". It's unlikely...but then I never thought Rage would reunite either. ;)

I love this video SSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOO much!
Was shot at Lee's Palace in Toronto, Canada back in 94.
Best part was those in the crowd didn't need to pay to get in, all you needed was a food item donated at the door for the daily bread foodbank.
Awesome video, their best song, we were stage diving the entire night (they actually played Levitate at the start of the show and at the end).
Cheers, Eagle Scream
