  • Not sure if McDougall is still telling people that wet birch bark won't burn, but if he is, call him out on it because he's dead wrong. It's an invaluable fire starting tool even when it's wet.

  • @SneakyC9 -You might have more credibility if you didn't hide behind that inane newsgroup moniker - but then, maybe you wouldn't. In fact, saturated birch bark will not burn until it's dried - why would I assert that if it weren't true? Any fool can "survive" in the woods for short periods if nothing goes wrong. Of course, if you think you have more knowledge and experience than me, you are invited to write your own survival manual and set me straight.
