First of all, only two of them are doing it, not the whole drumline, and they might even be THEIR tenors. And some of schools make you pay for your busted heads and sticks, so it might be there problem anyway. they are using tennis rackets, which can't be much worse than aluminum quad mallets, and I pretty much agree with SORREHIRBAHD. I DO agree that it is not good for the heads, and I definetely see where you are coming from, but I don't think you need to get so mad about it.

my point is its disrespecting the instrument. that would be like playing basketball with a bowling ball. and only the shafts are alum. on tenor mallets, not the head. the unevenness of the tennis racket can put small dents or scrapes on the head, giving you an uneven sound. and i promise you, those are school owned tenors. same color and brand. i was only angry, however, about the lack of professionalism in regards to the instrument and and how they are presenting themselves as percussionists.
