Line 6 POD HD500 vs POD X3 Live. Gibson EH-185, Mesa Boogie Mark IIc. Crunch presets.

I'm a bass player and a guitarist. I have considered purchasing the HD400 and the X3 Live. Which would you say would be better for me? Are the sounds that much different on the X3 than the HD models?

@Fieldification Yeah the X3 has some killer bass models. But you can get the line 6 bass pod online for super cheap and that thing still sounds obnoxiously good. Get that and get the HD.... But the X3 does cut back on equipment.

Wow. Absolutely LOVE the preset sound from the HD500 Gibson EH you have. I read in the comments that you deleted your presets but do you happen to recall even the basic amp setup you did to get that sound? Its obviously a 2 amp setup right? Any help would be appreciated!

hey i['ve got a pod hd500 n was planning to buy a pod x3 bean too coz the dsp limit reaches too soon on the hd and i;llb e able to use the wah/whammy and maybe a preamp from the x3 or i dunno... do u think both the pods can be used in a live situation?

@Zokyuss it's old firmware, unfortunately i deleted all 1.10 firmware presets, but you can get much better crunch preset in PODEdit screen shots from my "Line 6 POD HD500. Unnamed song 2" video

wow not near the sound difference I would have thought. Sounds like a little bit of eq difference is all. I did swap x3 live for hd500 but I sold my x3 live before I was able to do a comparison. Now I did buy the dt50 2x12 with the hd500 and I have to admit that is a much better combo then my x3live and fender 2x12... but then the amp costs twice as much (and 50x more things that can go wrong with it) So it ought to sound better.
