  • COMMMMMMMMMME

    here

  • MY FAVORITE PART OF THE WHOLE MOVIE.

  • COME HERE. I'M TOO AWESOME TO WALK TO YOU MYSELF.

  • bela lugosi was a more romantic vampire...the true horror i believe lies with the nosferatu vampire.. that is one of the scariest depictions i have ever seen of a horror figure..i have not seen them all... but so far nosferatu was the best

  • Dracula

  • So, I've never had the pleasure of watching this version of the movie but I must say that it is now obvious why Bela Lugosi will probably never be unseated from his throne as the king of all Dracula's.

  • Bela Lugosi is dead!!! T_T

  • The Godfather of Horror!

  • I Love Bela Lugosi He Is My Idol

  • I just read Dracula and it was an ok book, I'm not much for the whole vampire thing...but I must admit that bela lugosi is the best drac out there!!!

  • Bela Lugosi is the only Dracula in my book.

  • @spykerspyder What about Christopher Lee? He's plays a great Dracula.

  • Lugosi Béla a legnagyobb!

  • This still isn't the true Dracula. He's supposed to have a killer 'stache.

  • BELA WILL ALWAYS BE THE ONLY REAL DRACULA!!!

  • The only Dracula that could compare to the Bela Lugosi's portrayal is Christopher Lee. Bela and Christopher rule!

  • The irony is that in the movies Bela Lugosi played a creature that depended on blood to survive... in real life he depended on heroin daily. Bela was a major junkie and probably had to shoot up several times between filming takes just to keep going. What a man and what an actor! So much dedication, despite his drug problems!

  • @humbertojimmy It wasn't heroin, it was Morphine which was legal back then and then Methadone with ocassional Demerol usage. He died clean and he only went on pain medications because of sciattica he had suffered in the war. Then like a lot of people, he became dependant on it.

  • It must have been incredible to have been one of the production crew during the filming of Dracula.

To have seen these scenes being filmed in person, you've got to come away from that feeling that you've got the best job on Earth and there isn't any place else you'd rather be. Cinema magic unfolding right before your eyes and ears.

  • Dracula is best

  • So I just learned that Bela Lugosi was not fluent in english and had to learn his words line for line for the movie

  • @Grnvolpe

That he was, also Bela Lugosi was a stage name his real name was Bela Blasko. Boris Karloff and Lon Chaney Jr. were also stage names for William Henry Pratt and Creighton Chaney (as a means of cashing in on his more famous father)

  • Powerfull scene

  • Love this classic!! Thank you so much!!

  • vaya caquita de teroir uhhhhhhh :/

  • Happy 129th Birthday Bela

  • Feliz Cumpleaños Mr Lugosi

  • @HexGameplay the acting is amazing. can you not tell that through the distortions in the film?

  • @HexGameplay umad pussy?

  • @HexGameplay The acting was brilliant.

  • @HexGameplay 1.u mad? and 2.this is ALOT better than the shitty vampire movies we have today (twilight)

  • @HexGameplay The acting was terrible? Acting was ALL they had then. No special effects, no cgi, no green screen, nothing but the actors and a backdrop. I apologize for the lack of glitter and explosions.

  • @HexGameplay Everybody please step aside, we have a freakin' expert in the room! XD

  • Lugosi is Dracula period and no further comment is required.

  • @xhc1949

Gary Oldman... that's all I'll say.

  • Polidori in fact hated both Byron and Percy Shelley and admitted he'd stolen Byron's fragment and purposely made Ruthven based on Byron as an act of revenge for Byron firing him after he challenged Shelley to a duel.

  • Actually John Polidori didn't precisely start the whole "vampire thing." "The Vampyre" was based on Lord Byron's 1816 "Fragment of a Novel" and Polidori based the vampire in his story on Byron's personality. "The Vampyre" did not come from the same event that created Frankenstein as many believe. Mary Shelley stated that Polidori came up with "a terrible idea about a skull-headed lady." And an earlier story had been published in England in 1800. "Wake Not The Dead" by Johann Ludwig Tieck.

  • When Dracula looks down and gapes at the crucifix, I can almost hear Lugosi screaming, "VHUT!?"

  • An absolutely wonderful and classic scene.

  • I know It's respectless to laugh at this, (for me as a Dracula fan), but by the second "Come Here" i'm laughing!

  • Bela Lugosi = Legend

  • Twilight neo kiddos, watch and learn how does a vampire really look like.

  • amazing

  • @gothicparlor Pull the string! Pull the string!

  • The vampire is my favorite horror icon!

  • If he can't see his reflecion, how doeshe get his hair so neat?

  • Classic!

  • That was very cheezy

  • Back when vampires werent little bitches who sparkled in the day light.

  • ur rite freak twilight this is sooooooooooooooooooooo much better !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Twlight? robert pattison? FUCK YOU ROBERT PATTISON DOES NOT DESERV TO SMELL MY SHIT THAT LYMEE COCK SUCKER CAN ROT IN HELL FOR ALL I CARE how dare that asshole bring up pattison you think hes talented to play a vampire its all sparkling your right bela your a true dracula yes i know you wanna get some air bull shit play my MOVIE

  • For me, this is the definitive Dracula:) Such a great performance!

  • How elegant he was ♥♥♥♥♥♥

  • Bela Lugosi did not audition for the part of Dracula. He willed it!!!

  • wow he was hungarian :D

  • Great.

  • Peeeeople, stop fucking talking about Twilight @Dracula movies. Why are the top-posts ALWAYS about Twilight? You can't even compare Edward to Dracula. Dracula(Bela) is a legend, a genius and a very talented actor.C'mon now, do me(and Dracula) a favour and shut up - go troll some Twilight fan movies or something.

  • @LADYxIMMORTELLE Gladly. But the post I made is over a year old and believe me, I am growing sick and tired of people comparing today's stuff with old ones.

  • @LADYxIMMORTELLE since I'm not about to be censored...... and because Twilight is the funniest thing ever.....

Do you think Bela Lugosi's Dracula should sparkle a little more like Edward?

  • Lugosi is the coolest waiter ever!

  • "Your will is strong, van Helsing"... The riddle of steel. You know it, don't you, boy? But what is the steel without the flesh that wields it?

  • hahahaha at 2:16, just like...-were this come from..arrg shit!!!

  • 01:19 jedi power XD Béla is the best!

  • I just love Bela Lugosi. And there is even an iPad app dedicated to him! Bela Lugosi - The Master of Macabre for iPad on the iTunes App Store.

  • 2:18 "Fuck that"

  • Don't fuck with Lugosi!

  • kám. hír.

  • HerrWiegerinck1, I think the acting is actually powerful and dramatic. Consider that this was a completely different school of acting than the one you're used to. This is 1931. Actors of this generation cut their teeth in silent films and on stage, in which broad gesture and a heightened sense of dramatic acting were necessary to convey meaning. Now actors can use low tones, small gestures and other methods that work well with the closeup lens and modern sensitive microphones.

  • classic

  • Like Sean Connery is the only James Bond Bela is the only Dracula.

  • @Philtration what about Christopher Lee, he was also an amazing Dracula...

  • @DietDrMario i think he is a very bad actor

  • @MaGic1079 To each their own...what about Nosferatu?

  • @Philtration What about Christopher Lee? He played Dracula like a boss. IMO

  • What tension. Absolutely captivating.

  • "more effective than wolfbane count" *shows copy of twilight*

  • @bennybutch87 Van Helsing wouldn't ever have done that... Remember: He's one of the good guys, after all, and you don't become one of the good guys by being worse than the evil you're fighting.

  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE, I HAVE IT ON DVD AND I MUST WATCH IT AT LEAST 4 OR 5 TIMES A MONTH. I LOVE THE SCENES WITH LUGOSI AND EDWARD VAN SLOAN. I LOVE VAMPIRE MOVIES I MEAN REAL VAMPIRE MOVIES.

  • Nah, come on... I love this - it's a classic... But their acting suck. Let's no kid ourselves. =)

  • @HerrWiegerinck Van Helsing does, but its hard not to be drawn in by Bela's profound presence...

  • I'm proud to be hungarian:)

  • FOREVER

  • BÉCI BÁ

  • LUGOSI BÉÁCI BÁ FOPREVER

  • Today's "vampires" got nothin' on this!!!! Take that twilight!!!!

  • this is MY Dracula. the only other dracula I like is Gary Oldman's acting of him.

  • epic final

  • at 2:17 he did the what the fuck?! -face :D

  • Comment removed

  • Im team Dracula

  • @JediMasteKnuzzles

FUCK YEAH!!! We need backpacks, shirts, and hoodies

  • Dracula rules

  • I can't watch 00:02 - 00:15 without laughing

  • @X66081 whats so funny about that?

  • @MrAceman441 idk the expression on his face when he raises his hand dramatically and the guy just stares at him blankly... its because I'm watching it out of context it just looks comical

  • No CGI, no special effects, nothing artificial, just pure unadulterated fantastic acting.

  • @Partnerfrance I couldn't agree more. When I hear a movie is about vampires I expect them to be scary.

  • @Partnerfrance or glitter

  • @Partnerfrance hahaha his acting is terrible. thats why he became a cult figure!

  • Comment removed

  • @justWatchin97 He became a cult figure, because he was the essential Dracula on stage and screen at the time.

    Only Max Schreck rivaled Lugosi.

  • @Partnerfrance and no glittering vampires either lol

  • Eat that, Twilight!

  • if only bela lived through "the centurys to come"

  • Why is Twilight even being mentioned? This is classic historic art and the previously mentioned is ridiculous pop culture! Lugosi was a talented actor and these films will still be watched and talked about when Twilight will be forgotten as soon as all these children grow up.

  • This is the coolest Vampire of all Time, a Real classic.

  • very cool

  • @grobari107 for one thing, that isnt how u spell "layman's" and how does that little anecdote relate to the definition of fad...

  • My favorite scene of Dracula,Bela was the best.He died long before I was born, but I am still a fan of his.All I can say about Bela is that he was drop dead gorgeous.Luv everything about him his good looks, the way he talks and acts.Just a beautiful person.

  • man you can talk all the shit you want while this is original and much more tasteful you gotta respect twilight and that idea, it started a massive fad, if you can come up with a bigger fad and make your money, then talk all the shit you want

  • @grobari107 I really don't see how 'fad' equates to 'deserving respect'. All you seem to be saying is that talent is measured by how much money you can make chucking out what's basically fast-food literature to the poor impressionable youth. Many people find that wrong on a variety of levels. Were you thinking when you posted this?

  • @PuppetMuffin fad does equate to deserving respect because in lehmans terms, I play soccer, I think I am the best and everybody that has seen me play agrees, but I never make it to professional, therefore, I am not considered the greatest soccer player. Same goes for movies, transformers has no taste, no message, but it is entertaining and it made more money than 95% of the movies that were released the same year, so you keep respecting failures while I believe I am the best soccer player

  • @grobari107 Define "entertaining", for me I wouldn't watch Transformers 2 again if I was paid money to go see it for free. As far as respecting the idea of Twilight goes, sorry but I respect things like 'Let The Right One In' and Stoker's original Dracula story more than I ever will Stephanie Meyer's works. As for respecting what makes the most money, McDonalds makes more money than 95% of all fast food places, but their hamburgers are still shit.

  • @cha5 your not trying to understand my point i hate twilight and only like the effects in transformers but i respect the fact that they have a massive following and appeal when i tell people ive read dracula they look at me like im not from this planet which means the world we live in is stupid but to get back on topic people these days dont analyze they skim and it impresses me how all of these stupid movies make money based on hitting peoples buttons you gotta admit its impressive

  • @grobari107 And no I don't have to admit that Twatlight is impressive, All I'll admit is that it knows how to pump the tween market for all the green it can get.

  • Comment removed

  • @grobari107 It takes alot more than the free market proving P.T. Barnum's old saying "There's a sucker born every minute" in regards to tweendom to get my respect. Staying power for starters, Bram Stoker made almost no money from his creation of Dracula during his lifetime but it has lasted over 100 years. If Twatlight doesn't loose it's luster in 15 to 20 years or less, then get back to me.

  • @cha5 Bram stoker started the whole vampire thing, he is the creator, but he hasnt kept it going. two heads are better than one, one person writes the other criticizes and fixes the kinks bram stoker introduced dracula while a writer thought lets try to appeal to idiots, and make twilight based from dracula. its sad to say that more people know who robert pattison is than bram stoker but thats the world we live in and you cant accept that thats the only problem i have with your arguments

  • @grobari107 Bram Stoker didn't start the whole "vampire thing", that can be traced all the way back to Varney the Vampire by James Malcom Rymer and Carmilla by Sheridan Le Fanu, and Twatlight isn't based in anyway shape or form from Dracula, Meyer never even made her way through the entire novel, Dracula has lasted over 100 years Twatlight is a flash in the teeny bopper pants that has no longevity beyond that fan base period.

  • @grobari107 Also the ones who "kept the vampire thing going" since Stoker were people like Richard Matheson 'I am Legend' (which was even an inspiration for Georgre Romero's NOTLD film)

Stephen King 'Salem's Lot' Anne Rice (check Wiki) and several others. None of which Twatlight can even hold a shakey flashlight to insofar as vampire literature with a lifespan goes.

  • @grobari107 And as for your supposition that more people know who Robert Pattison is than Bram Stoker, you're again overlooking the basic fact of the longevity of Dracula vs Twatlight, Dracula has been around for 110 years and is about the most filmed fictional character there is (tieing only with Sherlock Holmes and maybe Tarzan) and has had tie in novels/films and even songs.

Dracula has far more name recognition than 'Edward' and that will likely be the case 100 years from now.

  • @grobari107 As far as a literary lifespan in fantasy fiction goes, I don't even see Twatlight having the same impact as Tolkien's Lord Of The Rings trilogy much less any appeal outside of it's tweendom fanbase and it ever being treated as anything but a joke about sparkly wannabe vampire pap fiction PERIOD,

and bear in mind that Tokien's LOTR trilogy is only about 50 years old, Do you really think Twatlight will ever come close to anything on the scale of Dracula or LOTR? please :-P

  • Comment removed

  • @grobari107 Slight correction here, the one who started the whole "vampire thing" long before Bram Stoker was John Polidori with his story 'The Vampyre' from 1819, which begat Clarimonde (1836), Varney the Vampyre, (1845-1847), Carmilla (1870) (which was actually a better written story than Stoker's Dracula and is a must for any horror lovers bookshelf, and was a tale that Stoker acknowledged as an influence on Dracula) Lady Ducayne (1896) right up to Stoker's Dracula (1897)

  • @cha5 While it is true the Bram Stoker did not create the vampire, it is true also that without him, Dracula would have vanished into history. Without him and his book, the legacy that Dracula has today would not exist. Bram Stoker gave life to Dracula that has not and will probably never die. We owe it to Stoker that without him both Dracula and the vampire would most certainly not be what they are today.

  • @cha5 and tell me this would you rather live out your life the way it already is right now but be remembered, or enjoy your whole life and die and be forgotten after your grandkids or great grandkids die? the former is bram stoker, the latter is stephanie meyer, and dont tell me money isnt everything would jay-z have beyonce and own a basketball team without money, or even roman abramovich its sad but the world is fucked but it makes sense and proves there is a heaven and hell and a god

  • @grobari107 You mean would I rather pimp myself out ala Meyers or create something of quality ala Stoker

Edgar Allan Poe, Lovecraft, Tolken, or Moorcock and Neil Gaiman? I'd kind of rather go the Stoker route, and I don't give a flying you know what how much money Meyers has made with Twatlight, Money is everything? (yawn) tell me something I haven't heard before as regards celbes, I'm an agnostic so it proves to me that religion, belief in a god and how much money one can make are irrelevant.

  • Like I said politicians and prostitutes and lobbyists and preachers can make money, as can a crook with a gun. Stephanie Meyers doesn't impress me and neither does your argument that she deserves veneration because she's a hack fad writer.

  • @cha5 and same thing for food mcdonalds is the shitiest food ive ever put in my mouth, but it still makes more money than every other food corporation, how can you not respect them, their smart, they have a store in every corner, its always open and its not expensive and it at least smells good, now if you dont analyze anything its perfect but if you do, you will notice that the food is garbage, the world we live in is sad, thats what proves there is a god

  • @grobari107 I don't respect them because their food is mediocre crap, prostitution makes more money than alot of churches but I still don't respect it as an institution, Lady Gaga makes a ton of money but I don't have any respect for her as a musician, get the point?

  • I should probably also note that while I don't want to think of Lugosi purely as Dracula, a role that left him sadly typecast despite his versatility, I should note that not only did he play the character well, he LIVED it. Unlike Americans/British/Japanese actors, he didn't fake the accent, fought in a war for his country, had numerous wives, came to a foreign nation, became an icon of horror, worked through difficult health problems, and was BURIED in the cape! None can match all that!

  • Subtle, deep, amazing.

  • A classic scene, from an immortal horror classic.

I LOVE this confrontation between Van Helsing and Dracula. Both Bela and Edward van Sloan are so perfect in their parts. And look at Van Helsing when he manages to resist Dracula's hypnotic powers! Now that's badass!

  • @anton1990

THANK YOU! Some mention Peter Cushing as the best Van Helsing, but my favorite is Sloan. I LOVE Cushing in the role, but when he started he acted well, but Sloan did too and looked older which made him seem genuine. Sloan's was never an action guy, but an intelligent and strong-willed man, just like the character in the book. Sometimes things like this just speak to me more. Though I must say I still love the Hammer films dearly too. Both nail the characters, unlike Stephen Sommers

  • Watch Lunar Wolf Production Studios Dracula-parody:

  • a faire peur de paris bonne apres midi.

  • You know, Browning's Dracula isn't a great film at all, but this scene is probably the best rendition of the relationship between these characters on screen - whether that's due to the charisma of the actors of whatever, this is a shining example of what the rest of the film could've been, if it wasn't tied so strongly to the play.

  • Horror novel see video book trailer

  • Bela Lugosi is a sexy beast!

  • Mierda, dracula tiene la fuerza de su lado :P (la de star wars). Lo atrae con el "come here"

  • Although the style of acting may be considered melodramatic by today's standards, anyone who has read the book knows how accurate Bela Legosi's portrayal was and so it remains definitive. And would you like to know something really cool and creepy at the same time? Mr. Legosi was buried in that very same costume. Cape and all.

  • After 70 years this movie is still better than Twilight. THIS is what we call a vampire: dressed in the classic white tie and cape. WAY better then those fake Twilight vampires...

    Back on topic:

This scene really is EPIC... Thanks to Bram Stoker for writing his masterpiece. Thanks to him this awesome movie was made...

  • @eonurae

I think you're right, there is something of Bela in Darth Vader. I also think his influence can be felt in Conan's Thulsa Doom.

  • this is a bit like twilight, its a mint film my gf got on dvd

  • @tiadawn100 more like the "holy shit whats that... oh damn its a cross face"

  • Bela Lugosi is scary.

  • A true CLASSIC!! Nobody can take the place of Bela!

  • How funny, both top rated comments mention Twilight *forgive me* in telling people not to mention it and they also have the nerve to curse on a video dedicated to the great Bela Lugosi.... I feel there is something wrong here....

  • Halfway through production, he died and was replaced with Ed Wood's wife's dentist, due to their uncanny resemblence! (kidding)

  • Why is Bambi a promoted video on the side of this?! I refreshed the page, and it went away, but still...weird. They're just a bit different. XD

Epic video by the way. Bela Lugosi will always be the greatest Dracula. And he kicks Twilight's ass.

  • bela maestrrro

  • To see this video is just MAGNIFIC

  • Come here.

  • Google Hells best kept secret

  • 1:07 = EPIC

  • @DuchessAliana

    great comment xD

  • Bela is really vampire!!!!!!No fucking edward cullen

  • what happened to dracula's brother? read "Last Rites: The return of Sebastian Vasilis" to find out!

  • From Bela Lugosi to The Teenage Vampires of the 90s vampires was scary shit but today they are just fags who sparkle

  • Bela was hot lol

  • You can say what you want about the acting, but the direction is brilliant.

The key to this scene is when Dracula commands him to come hither, that long take, with him walking forward, but hesitating... That makes the scene. And it didn't need 30 cuts like Micheal Bay would give it.

  • Lugosi Béla was a Hungarian actor, he is the most famous Dracula ever.

  • the other actors in this movie just pale so much in comparison to our beloved Bela.

  • Oh! Bela Lugosi, nadie ha asimilado ese aire elegante y seducción insinuante al conde.Además de hacer un excelente papel como dráculo¿a ¡es único en verdad!

  • Unless you are already one come to NYC if you really like vampires.

You will be hard pressed to find a male that isnt one.

  • @clockworkplumbs

Most of the vampires you find here in New York, are the kind who just sap your financial resources.

    Sorry to sound so un-romantic.

  • Bela Lugosi could lure me any day. Really, just listen to the man! He has such a silky voice.

  • Bela Lugosi, best Dracula EVER!

    stop hating on Twilight, bastards

  • @TheBannanaTribe14 You bring shame to the Banana race.

  • @TheBannanaTribe14 You're contradicting yourself. On the one hand, you are acknowledging Lugosi as the authentic Dracula, a point that I agree with. On the other hand, you are defending Twilight, a fraud of the worst sort and an insult to classical vampire movies. Pick a side, bitch!

  • @JohnnyMisanthrope There's absolutly no reason i can't do that. they're both vampires. and on one hand, i love the classic vampire, which is why i absolutly love things like Dracula, Van Helsing, and The Vampire Diaries. But on the other hand, i like the more modern outlouk of vampires like Stephenie Meyer portrays in Twilight (ya, i love a sexy vamp ;) ) if i could take both vampires and combine them, i would. and i have. what is it to you anyway what my interests are? i don't question you.

  • @TheBannanaTribe14 if you would combine them you would get the typical Anne Rice Vampire

  • @siouxsiewestwood i've never read Anne Rice, so i really don't know anything about her vampires. I actually really want to read her stories, i just never got the books. i really have to remember to get them

  • @TheBannanaTribe14 Her vampires are kind of gay. and her books get kind of boaring. there's like 50 of them and their all the same. the vampire lestat is the best book though

  • @siouxsiewestwood so do you suggest that one and not the others? i guess i'll have to read that one then
