I had to go to court recently and I was at the police station trying to get some information about my case. In walks a woman who was complaining that her neighborhood was "starting to look like a trailer park" and was trying to get these peoples camper towed...I am a homeless advocate, and activists, and I said...you know...maybe we should just throw all of the homeless people in the ovens...and she says yea...I agree...right there in the police station ...I said people like you make me sick....
I was at a Police Station here recntly and I a woman was asking about how should get these people towed for parking thier camper on the street near her home...she said it was beginning to look like a trailer park...I am a homeless adovocate and activist, so I said...yea we should just throw all the homeless people into ovens....this lady says yea...your right... I was shocked!!! I said people like you make me sick..there was a cop standing right there,it was crazy, and some people think that way

You should check out the services already in place. Contact the Salvation Army for a list of places and service in your area. if you see someone who is not making use of the services, take them there.
I hope you are not disappointed when the ones you try to help turns it down. (They wont turn down cash, but social workers say handing them cash is not good.)
You will find that many know where to get help, but prefer living in the homeless community over having expectations put on them. Many even have family that would help them if they would try to give up drugs or drinking, and at least look for a job.
There will be the rare gem that holds up the "work for food" sign that will take you up on it, but that could be dangerous. The Salvation Army usually has a screening procedure. Volunteer there, or some where like that.

Notice how he tells these kids they were "born right now for a reason". They are his "sisters and brothers", they have "special feelings" and they are "so loving", etc etc. VERY manipulative. The best way for anyone to be an advocate for homeless is to have the government focus on jobs, the best way to do that is to promote business. The government taking money and spending it on their projects does not promote jobs that last and lead to a better life, it promotes more debt which hurts jobs.

I had to go to court recently and I was at the police station trying to get some information about my case. In walks a woman who was complaining that her neighborhood was "starting to look like a trailer park" and was trying to get these peoples camper towed...I am a homeless advocate, and activists, and I said...you know...maybe we should just throw all of the homeless people in the ovens...and she says yea...I agree...right there in the police station ...I said people like you make me sick....

You should check out the services already in place. Contact the Salvation Army for a list of places and service in your area. if you see someone who is not making use of the services, take them there.
I hope you are not disappointed when the ones you try to help turns it down. (They wont turn down cash, but social workers say handing them cash is not good.)

You will find that many know where to get help, but prefer living in the homeless community over having expectations put on them. Many even have family that would help them if they would try to give up drugs or drinking, and at least look for a job.
There will be the rare gem that holds up the "work for food" sign that will take you up on it, but that could be dangerous. The Salvation Army usually has a screening procedure. Volunteer there, or some where like that.
