My daily driver is E46 328i and E30 325 weekends. 328i is more responsive with Signature Motoring performance (CAI) intake kit. Installed it myself in under half hour. HP increase on the E46 is about 13.5HP for a cost of $170 or around $17 per HP gain. Best 1st performance mod to do. Other application data:

E30 series: 6.0-13.4hp gain

E36 series: 5.5-12hp gain

E46 series: 6.0-13.9hp gain

E92 series: 8.5+ hp gain

Z3/Z4 (all): 5.5-13.9hp gain

Think of it as an air compressor run by the car to create "boost" which is compressed air measured in psi, standard atmospheric pressure is 14 psi. Now the more the air is compressed the more oxygen is present and oxygen is needed to react with the fuel to produce combustion which is what pushes the pistons down. More oxygen means they can inject more fuel and in return acquire more power and torque. Turbo is the same but runs on the exhaust pressure to spin it's turbine blades.

What the manufacturer says it will do vs. what it actually does is very different, given that manufacturesr usually give conservative numbers. it runs the 1/4mile faster than the audi r8 as well, 135i cant do that stock

I have somewhere at my computer still a video where im smoking him with 3 passengers inside my m3. from 0-160 km/h and that was when my m3 was still stock not modded. And from 0-100 that was not like 1-3 meter behind me it was a big difference behind me. So i dont know how the 135i would do 4.7 to 100. lol

I have an m3 DCT and a 535xi, they perform better than what the specs bmw has shown, thats only to protect the sales of the m3 and other vehicles. The 335 can do it in 4.8 sec even though bmw states only 5.2 sec. You surely do not own any of these vehicles otherwise you would know a bit more than just reading from the website ;)
