  • There is no point to this video, nor to this 'test"

it teaches NOTHING of the value of the sword.

It's flashy, it gets hits on youTube.

But if you wanted to know the true value of a sword you don't learn that by hitting junk out in the backyard.

  • @AlanMolstad It is for a review at SBG

  • @duocore2xtra send me a link via private message....

I would like to see how this would fit into the context of knowing a sword's merit?

  • I wonder if the SGC Yamakami can take a beating like that...

  • もう二度と本来の切れ味は戻らないんだろうな・・・勿体ない

    藁か野菜にしとけよ

  • I bought this sword and its a very very good cutter.

    I myself recommend it.

  • your a weakling there's no problem with the sword there's a problem with your mussels

  • @TheDoggie77777 hes been doing this for years, pretty sure he knows what hes doing with all the trophies he has from kata competitions

  • Videos like this are the reason I chose to buy a Cheness sword (the Tenchi). A sword that can take that kind of abuse works well for a person whose cuts aren't perfect.

  • 外人に、日本刀を持たせるとだいたいのヤツが鉄

    を斬りたがるが、みんな下手なんだから多分みんな刃こぼれすると思う。

  • @faiz555cp konnano miteru to kokoro ga itami masu ne ;/

  • Sir, katana should be wielded only by people who know how to use it, they never hit metal parts of the armor... kendo teaches you to slice flesh only.

  • @LoLFilmStudios I agree for the most part, except for a few things:

Keep in mind that not all samurai were master swordsman. Usually the spear and bow had training priority.

Yes you aren't supposed to hit metal armor with your sword, but that doesn't mean that shit doesn't happen.

Also, all valid targets in the modern sport of Kendō are delivered to the head, torso, wrist/s, and throat; which are all typically-armored targets. (Therefore Kendō is not a reliable analog for armored kenjutsu.)

  • @faiz555cp ワードは情報処理機能をもっている

  • someone don't know use katana ._.

  • @Alex03051994 Someone don't know use English.

  • @UnholyGenocide but still, you can understand what he meant, and now you feel stupid cos u r trollin' :D

  • @LoLFilmStudios Not at all. Good job replying to a month old comment. /thumbsup

  • I own a Cheness Spring Steel Katana (not an O Katana), and I love it. It needs sharpening after a few sessions of tameshigiri, but it is indeed strong and well made.

  • the sword testing was helpful..thankyou...but the comments are just down right hilarious...lmao

  • Comment removed

  • @Fortun3tell3r Scratch u mean.....no sword can cut a stone in two.....even though katana are sharp they aren't very durable.

  • @Fortun3tell3r You've been watching too much anime kid. A katana is designed for cutting flesh, that's all. They break easily if you're hitting objects as hard or harder than the sword itself. Learn something about swords before you comment. Okay?

  • @zombiesite1 its not like i tried it but check it on wikipedia its written thier instead of tring to act cool by Insulting me . and i dont watch too much anime the i watched only death note in 2007 thats it. okay ?

  • the katana is the sharpest sword in the world .. the master of kendo can cut stone into two half with it .. so what you are doing is just foolish ..

  • @ItsTheJewCrew

My good sir. The reason he has a sword is to kill idiots like you.

  • @ItsTheJewCrew Plus I would get a gun if it didn't need ammo, if it never jammed, plus it requires me to reload which I would waste horrible time when I can go balls out and cut up a fucker in seconds. Oh and when he means by having your tounge pulled out from your ass, he means by fucking bloody punch through that damm ribcage into splinters, grab your tounge, then violently pull that fucking shit down your spine, past your torn up organs and pelvis and out your bleeding fucking ass. Asswipe!

  • @ItsTheJewCrew Listen dumbshit, I like weapons, sure guns can shoot but shit it takes skill to know how to violently dismember others into bloodly pieces like yourself. Fuck, a real man stands up and fights, not shoot behind a damm corner. I respect a person more if he fought like 10 people in a fight in hand to hand combat and won then one who killed 17 with a gun when thier back turned. Besides I study Kenjutsu, a martial art that teaches one on how to use a katana, and I need a new one.

  • @ItsTheJewCrew

    put it this way

a sword can be used to slice a person into pretty pieces

a gun can be used to put holes in a person

so you CAN own a sword for the same reason you'd own a gun

  • @ItsTheJewCrew

    just shut the fuck up

some people take care of swords to learn responsibility

and some people have swords to kill

you sound like a dying little girl that needs to get her belly cut open

or a deadbeat wife beater who deserves to have his tounge pulled out from his ass

  • @ItsTheJewCrew The guy is testing out the sword to see if the damm thing is good or bad quality and durability. Shit and its not my fault that I'm interested in getting one. Besides people here are obviously interested in a katana retard. The fact is that you're going around spitting useless shit that isn't valid makes you more then a fucking dumbass then I thought you are. Calling me a nerd, telling me that I spend my time here? Then tell me what the fuck are you doing here taint licker?

  • yall are stupid why ruin a good blade like that if i was their i would take that sword from u and beat u with it thats just not cool

  • @ItsTheJewCrew Seriously.....GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE!!!!!!!!! Holy shit then go see a fucking gun video....godammit fucking idiots like these aren't ment to be here........

  • now that's how u test a sword. no weak paper. steel v steel.

  • if u dont want this katana , give to me

  • i pay good money to have internet not to watch this awesome shit

  • damn. when i get a knife i usually beat on it for a while so this was like that

  • hey ur destroying my home!!!! i live in that and make fire!!!!

  • at 1:45 did people cheer for you?

  • @rogantu Live music. It's the music, I think,

  • I just randomly browse his time from time to time. I think I already have my top 10 list, but not all are from his site. found 1 sword on his site that was a kitrae, later I found it for half the price at trueswords, but again he showed it from the website he found cheapest at the moment.

6 of the swords on my list would probably last 1 week of normal use, but the 3 from his site are sure to last, my favorite will even serve me 2 years+ for 250 dollars only.

  • this is a fail test. why is he testing it on metal barrel. katana is not made to cut metal barreals, it's made for cutting people. Test it on some freaking pork meat or against other katana.

  • @AleksandarTadich go volunteer

  • @xdeadromeox you are being too racist for someone who's half pig, don't forget that it was me who stuffed your mom 26 years ago. good times

  • @AleksandarTadich u're only 23. fail

  • @xdeadromeox I know how old I am lol, you actually went to check, it means that you do suspect your mom is a whore

  • @AleksandarTadich roflmao another braindead commenter. what is this mans name? Sword BUYERS guide.

what is the video named? DESTRUCTIVE TESTING!!!

if you don't know what tests are and not what destructive tests are get off and hate on something that actually is worth hating on.

  • @rogantu die a painful death, gringo

  • @AleksandarTadich hey guys, look what i've found! someone moaning about ppl testing it on metal barrels is actually cutting some melons! lol

    /watch?v=aJTJjiuPIQ0

  • @AleksandarTadich It's a destructive test to show the limits of what the sword can take and also for quality assurance purposes.

  • A trained swordsman could cut that barrel into 4 pieces with one stroke and at the same time turn it into tea cups.

  • how you are not sorry to screw a decent katna like thath

  • debil

  • my dick can do that

  • @juggalo4life505420 you must have a incredibly skinny dick that has a very resiliant, smooth and thin cutting edge, sir, i highly doubt your human if your sexual organs can do such a thing, i'd hate to see what it would do to the woman you fuck (if ever or any) because i think you'd currently be in jail for ABH of genitals and would be looking at a 2 year sentence. idiot.. yeah this is what happens when you revise!

  • @SenoirMeow no need to be an ass it only a joke gaw

  • all weeaboos should die, if not now, then when they try to play with a katana. they would probably spin it around and stab them self.

  • good test!its a real test not bamboos etc...metal on metal(even with different hardness).well thi sword can handle some fighting :P

  • Weeaboos everywhere.

  • the 1911 button goes with this lol

  • this is not real Katana

  • @lucfaz you're right, it's better because it's made out of an awesome silicon alloy spring steel that can take this kind of punishment, a tamahagane sword would've had huge chunks missing and the tip would've flattened when he stabbed it.

  • @lucfaz Yeah you're right about that

  • @lucfaz

i agree with you because a real katana made by a real swords smith woulda folded the metal. You know the wavy thing on the spark side of the blade..

  • @duketheking your an idiot... thats not what the waves are from... the waves in the metal are created from the clay they put on the back of the blade so they can heat treat the edge and create a hardened edge. this is also how the blades become curved, yes traditionally these blades are folded numerous amounts of times! but that is not why they get the wave pattern...

  • @lucfaz : except it is. A very high quality one too.

  • how would you rate the o katana on a scale of 1 to 10

  • very nice vid thanks for posting. I'd be curious to see how the Cold Steel O Katana (which doesn't have a hamon) would hold up to such a test. I love the penetration of this O Katana on the barrel. Some say that warriors wielding rapiers could beat warriors that had katana - I'd like to see a rapier do that kind of penetration on that barrel.

  • Did you know that this Video is meant to demonstrate the durability of the sword? he is not trying to cut the metal but showing how strong it is be clashing it with metal.

  • @5tristanvm : No shit, that's why it's called a destructive test. Read the god damn title.

  • He does not know how to use a katana XD You have no longsword in hands

  • awsome

  • PURE Awesome !

  • nice demo, the test shows what is a practical service duty Iaito at a reasonable price. Thanx for sharing,...\m/

  • @hdndragon this is a fully sharpened sword. Not an Iaito.

  • Mrjoosten had it right, but it would require much more constant velocity, which moat humans cant perform. Plus the guy had terrible form

  • YEA SBG for life

  • what a waste of an o katana..

  • @gonefishingstudios it's necessary if you actually want to understand how durable the sword really is who knows it might end up saving your life with that kind of knowledge

  • FAYUL

  • @TheBusstopsign What do you expect? It's not like it's a Zanpakuto.......

  • @lolyousaidtheefword hahahaha If only!

  • uhh the main reason the katana is taking damage is because it cant cut clean threw u will damage a katana if u stop the momentum of the swing half way threw a object but if it doesnt make it threw u add abit more damage

  • @MrJjoosten

Erm, you do realize that katana aren't meant to cut through steel drums right? In fact they weren't meant to cut through any kind of armor, really. It's not a god sword, it's about as good at it's job as a scimitar or a spatha. Katana will never cut clean through that thing.

  • Hes not trying to do damage with the sword. Hes trying to show you how much can the sword do and if it's worth buying it. A katana is not a goddamn uber weapon that can literally cut through anything. You've been watching too much anime if you think it's gonna cut through a tank.

  • I'm sold on this thing now!!!! I'm surprised at just how DEEP it cut into the thing!!!

  • this is the wrong test for this sword they are made for slicing not stabbing with the point or just blunt force

  • @PROUD602 Sorry my friend but your wrong...way wrong. The design of the tip [kissaki] is specifically designed for piercing armor and reaching vital points in the body.

  • There is a cool book called: "Katana for dummies" ... you should read it before.

  • @lordgabb There is a cool book called "If you dont like the videos dont watch them" you should read before coment

  • @Demon1ackk Oh... I read that book!!! it so cool!!! it says that "youtube is public server and can comment whatever you want"... So I did it. But you still need to read "Katana for dummies", will help you to wield the katana and give a good cut.

  • that sword is fucking beast.

  • its not always about the sword but about the swordsman...This one " youtube.com/watch?v=RyO46RQhYkQ "is one...And i also think that they should treat better those katanas :(

  • Soooo many idiots commenting. Read his name for Pete's sake. He buys these to see how easy or not so easy they are to break. He posts the results on his website and he is pretty well known from those of us who actually have swords instead of tossing around nonsense.

He's not playing ninja, he's not trying to be cool, he's showing video evidence of the swords' strengths and durability so that we buyers know what is good and what isn't.

  • @sxetitan Yea totally agree with you, it is funny because if you watch maybe 2 or 3 of his videos and or read the comments then he tells you whats going on. Though gotta love some of these posts, guess watching anime or something makes you pro *end sarcasm*

  • Try putting some weight in the barrel then it won't roll all over the place when you stab

  • lot of bad comments here, if this guy didnt do it, who would, i think its interesting

  • Did you seriously just try and stab a oil drum with a katana? A sword that is meant for cutting, not at all for stabbing? You are amazingly lucky that katana didnt break and fly back and stab you.

These things have trouble cutting through thick bone and you are using it against metal? Way to mess up a nice sword.

  • @EmperorofCartoons id disagree, there shape and wieght is very adapted fo stabbing, i recon apart from the skull and pelvic bone, a katana in the right (or wrong) hands can go through most bones

  • @greatestgod Its not their size and weight, its their make up. While I am sure it might be overcame by using modern steel and forging techniques, traditional katanas were quite brittle and stiff. They were designed exclusively with cutting in mind (Usually for leaving mortal wounds in the flesh more so than cleaving through bone.).

  • c'mon test the tenchi on a drum

  • btw your fat. stop playing ninja games and thinking you can fucking cut shit in half.

  • your a fucking retard... man your cool

  • Painful to watch...

  • can i haz dat katana plz?

  • aren't you worried the blade might snap and get hit by a rebounding chuck of blade in the 55 gallon drum tests?

  • @sirMAXX77 That's why he's wearing a face-shield.

  • Can someone help me with something? I accidentlly hit an iron beam with my sword. It left a chink right at the top of the blade. It's not big, but I would like to fix it. How can I do it? I looked it up on the net but couldn't find anything. The best advice I could find was to take it to a repair shop. But there aren't any in my town. Help!

  • Who the Fuck would hit a 55 gallon drum with a Katana?

  • @ShaeIsAwsome Exactly metal on metal is not good for the blade! That shit will be bent up if he uses any pressure on it once so ever!

  • gagyi ez nem katana

  • lame.........

  • have some respect for the katana dude,

  • @LucariusofSparta It's not a shinkatana. It was clearly stated that it was a Chinese replica. Whether it was factory made or handmade I have no idea, but doing these tests is no different to me than cutting a piece of meat on a steel platter/plate with a finely sharpened knife (which people do all the time).

  • omg guys katanas arnt living things who gives a shit he can buy another one its not a big deal. damn, also personally if you wanna cut through that or do a better job on fucking that barrel up.... try a claymore hose things are rocking. ( katanas and claymores are the best swords on earth i PERSONALLY FEEL)

  • You people are idiots. You do know what a destructive test is dont you? It hurts to watch a good blade beat on, but it's necessary to know quality and durability. He knows it's not made to cut metal and his intent isn't to try and cut the barrel in half. He breaks 'em so you know the stresses your sword can or cannot take. God there's a ton of these vid's how do y'all not know that!?

  • @chucknarok This video is what makes me want to buy this katana(which i will once i save up enough cash)and the review on their website just tells how it is so damn durable.I'm sure as hell not gonna do this to it but i'll know i can wack some bamboo and never worry about it flying off the handle or snapping in two and cutting my fuckin arm off.

  • @swordsmanruler Yeah man, after seeing the sheer durability of the 9260 spring steel, Im sold as well. The things are pretty much unbreakable under normal use. Check out the Oniyuri test. All the Cheness blades are pretty reasonably priced too. I do like the custom options of the SBG swords that he sells at his site. Just wish I could get that 9260 steel instead of the T-10 tool steel. T-10s not bad. Got some friends that can be pretty wild and when I'm not looking, I dont want my sword F'd up

  • the sword should cut through this because it was designed to peirce through a samurais armor and was intended for slashing rather than thrusting

  • what has the drum ever done to you you sad strange little man lol

  • for a person who knows sword value, this clip is torturing to say the least.

  • Katana doesn't have the mass, try getting a larger heavier sword.

  • An aluminum 50gallon drum.

  • NOW THATS WHAT KIND OF SWORDS THEY ARE SELLING ON EBAY!!!

  • WTF if your going to treat your sword that way that give it to someone who will love it and care for it

  • 1. You're wasting a beautiful katana.

    2. The katana you're holdin is not a master katana made on a traditional way.

    3. Katana's are made to cut flesh and bones, not steel.

    4. You're a dumbass!

  • prosnyper9 i understand your point but its still a nice sword

  • faggot

  • waste of a beautiful sword

  • @kobi6538 If he didnt test these amazing swords, then ppl would be buying into cheap imitations rather than a good deal from the right seller. Simply put, he's a genious.

  • if that katana was original then it would have minimal or no edge damage and would cut much deeper

  • god damn destroy a great katana

  • well we know that the katana works, but it's been destroyed. The japanese never perform "destructive testing" on works of art.

  • you should do sword vs sword damage testing... just a suggestion =D

  • @dohboiii You should check SwordBuyersGuide's video list, I'm pretty sure there is one that tests European swords against each other.

  • lame

  • It is called a destructive test for a reason you fucking morons

  • nice way to ruin a good katana

  • wtf was that that was just dreadful you should use a claymore or other similar european sword if you hit luike that

  • 馬鹿外人 刀を玩具にするな

  • he's not trying to destroy it you fools, he's showing off the durability. some people just aren't smart.

  • I didn't realize how many people never read titles of videos or the person's name on who made it. This guy is trying to show you the stats of a blade and whether or not you should buy it. Fuck you haters, Kay, Thx, Bai.

  • A nice demonstration, but a katana isn't as effective the way this person uses it. If it were to wielded properly it'd cut further.

  • @Flaphand come and try...

  • @Bl4s3 I'd love to.

  • @Flaphand than do it! i wanna see!!!! :D

  • nice blade, dont listen to these assholes talking shit. they are just jealous

  • Of course, if you use a katana like an axe, then you will do nothin more than a stupid youtube video...

No fuckin idea on how to use a sword, btw good idea on how to destroy it.

  • i tried this hits from diagonal best way it best way to penetrate cuts wind better then up down

  • Why do you feel compelled to destroy a piece of art like that?

  • How much did that excellent blade cost you?

  • why the hell would you do that? man you have no life

  • supremejoey24, jaspionfuck, and any other people like these two assholes who think that TESTING the god damn blade takes skill stfu and just thumb it down dont post mean shit! not good and also he is doing what he likes to do so piss off and he gets a like and i subscribe!

  • damn you need to train in the art of the samurai bro just picking up a sword and swinging it wont work its like picking up a basket ball and saying your now michael jordon

  • Why are you smashing that steel rod into the oil drum?

Your video says Katana but im afraid you are mistaken sir...

  • cool 2:33 video. Now go get a new Katana, since it's now like 30bucks worth.

It's so sad to see this beautiful sword beeing fucked up for no reason.

  • idiot

  • This should be retitled "board hick with big blade"

  • i feel bad for the katana soooo many scars :(....

  • now if you get me a katana made of diamond ill be happy

  • now if you get me a katana made of diamond ill be happy

  • do you buy those swords to destroy them for our entertainment? or do you have some contract with sellers so they suply you?

  • i have seen all of your videos and they are awesome.but i want to see a cold steel

o katana hit this o katana.they say its sword proof but never show it hitting a sword.

  • It's spring steel -.- better off buying another type of katana, spring steel isn't for cutting, only show.

  • @sigmundbalmung Not really... spring steel refers to the type of hardening and temper that the steel undergoes, in this case the whole blade is about... oh... 50 - 55 RC if I'm not mistaken, which gives it toughness and the ability to return from a bad bend or a botched cut. The edge is still hard enough to cut soft targets. As you can see, it even cuts into the steel drum with minor edge damage, which is outright blade abuse but shows you its toughness.

  • BANKAI!!!!!!!!

  • How much does that sword sell for?

  • yeah i dont dont think that face shield could stop a shattered katana from heading toward and sticking out of your eye.

ehh, Its the thought that counts.

  • chill fuckers. hes showing you what these blades are capable of so you know how good they are. would you rather buy a sword that has nevver been destructive tested then have it blow up in your face when you go to cut a milk jug?

  • what's with the negative comments.. He sells sword and is showing how durable this particular sword is..if youre ever interested in it, stop being rude..he's doing us all a favor by going through the pro's and con's of each sword.

  • @mrcokez1 i know i got a sword from this guy fairly priced, and cuts thru 4 in width tree branches with ease, and doesnt bend that easy

  • that's probably the only thing you've ever penetrated

  • What a retard.lol
