You guys have to read the manga. The manga is even deeper than what the anime shows, especially on Satou and Misaki's relationship. Their relationship is unlike any simple romance or tragedy can ever depict. It always cracks me up that Misaki sees Satou as the lowest human form. But I wouldn't call their "love" ironic, and honestly, I don't even know what to call their relationship.
