YOU ROCK FOR POSTING THIS!!! I LOVE THIS SONG!!! I thought I would never hear it again. Just found it on a UK website and is getting ready to purchase it. Thanks :)
by the way,it's a 100 percent purely original of Ryuichi Sakamoto from YMO.his wife was given a birth, this song is dedicated to his baby-daughter at that time.not even close to be covered from some anime or from other bands.that's for sure.
@kenichisaitohchenii I always thought the song for his daughter was 'Ongaku' off the same album. It says this song was written by Yuki and Ryuichi on the credits, and the Japanese lyrics are by someone not in YMO. Apparently, said daughter has a band of her own nowadays.
It would be kinda funny if Miu Sakamoto (Ryuichi Sakamoto's daughter) does a cover version of "Ongaku" or "Kimi ni Mune Kyun" (whichever one it was that Ryuichi dedicated to her) this time dedicated to her dad.
What I meant to convey was that the person who uploaded this video, is a Japanese native speaker, so by "English wording" I meant he/she put the "title" of this video incorrectly. He/she should have put something like "Human League cover YMO" or something like that, because "VS" usually means it's one of those mash-up/remix videos with both songs playing at the same time.
As for the song choice, "Kimi Ni Mune Kyun" was a hit for them as far as I know...so why not cover it in English in the UK?
And I say all this without any disrespect, it's just the YouTube character count limit didn't allow me to write something nicer within the character limit.
i am not criticizing the song choice. this (the original) was one of my favorite, and i listened to it over and over again when i was 14 yrs old.
many of ymo's early songs, like "tong poo" or "rydeen," have been covered or used for remix, but i have never seen a cover like this. many of ymo lovers actually do not like this era of ymo because ymo was simply enjoying being commercial.
Oh, yeah I didn't think you were criticizing the song! I was just saying I think it was a good enough song to cover since Human League were not "instrumental" type of song writers.
Yeah, I've heard a number of remixes for the early YMO songs.
I'm not surprised...generally most artists lose fans when they change their sound radically. But me, being born after YMO disbanded in '84, and not part of the original era, I have the YMO discography (and some RS, YT, HH) and I love all the albums.
Thank-you so much for posting this song. I have heard about the collaboration of Yellow Magic Orchestra and The Human League. Two synth pop/electronic music pioneering groups under one roof! You should really change the title of this video to YMO and The Human League.
I love YMO, I love Human League... but this... this just isn't any good ;_;

It just feels weird...especially the singing since it feels like it's on another rhythm than the bg music. Gotta admit it doesn't beat the original.

the excessive drumming on this ruins it a bit for me. i like the simplicity of the original. phils voice is vey cool.

Rhythm is terrible. Thankfully HL made a decent "Octopus" album, without such rhythms.

Too late, remade into an ending theme for a parody of the yuri genre.
It fits, strangely.

NekoXIII 2 years ago
@NekoXIII This was the B-Side (for want of a better term for CD's) of "Tell Me When cd2" from the Human League album Octopus.
MrZoolook 2 years ago
@NekoXIII It's "Kimi Ni Mune Kyun", like the Japanese version.

一方で、YMOがヒューマン・リーグのカバーをやっても面白そうですね!!ユキヒロさんが 独特の節回しで、「I'm only human~」とか、歌うのも聴いてみたいです、ハハハ。

Is this a cover version or collaboration?
The arrangement does not sound like collaboration to me at all...
qtotter 2 years ago
This is the cover version. The English wording is just not accurate it seems.
Interesting how they covered this YMO song 10 years after the original came out heh.
Artstar 2 years ago
it would have been much better if the english lyrics had not been written based on the original...
it is truly interesting such a commercial song from their late pre-reunion album was covered.

Usually in Japanese when bands cover other musician's songs they call it "Original band name vs. Cover band name" for whatever reason.
