  • 1.Shavers 2.Liston 3.Foreman 4;Louis 5.Tyson 6.Dempsy 7.Marciano 8.Frazier 9.Morrison 10.Bowe thats my top ten the order comes from holmes norton berbick spinks and ali on who they rated as the toughest punchers, i think Liston is seriously underated in the analls of history
  • Liston and Larry Holmes had the greatest left jabs of any HW champions. Louis said that Conn was the only guy who hurt him during his reign and earlier, even more so than Baer and Schmelling. Asked how come, he said 170lb Conn was the only one who truly punched his weight. I like Conn's retort when asked why he didn't coast for the last 3 against Louis, knowing the result was in the bag: "I wouldn't be Irish if I wasn't stupid."

Joe Louis had a better jab than Larry Holmes. Next to his cross, his jab might have been his best weapon. Larry's might have been that bit faster, but most definetely not as forceful. Liston and Louis both had world class jabs, Liston's being enforced by his gorilla reach.

  • was that night train Liston was sparring to?

  • It's strange how Ali once described Louis as being flatfooted , au contraire ; he had a nimble gait. Patterson was a bit flat footed but not Louis.

  • Tyson's a little overrated. Liston, Foreman, and Louis will all knock Tyson out.

By the way Liston was really great, nice left jab

  • the sound is late
