  • Nice logo. This logo is only product in Hong Kong.

  • just pure classic awesomeness

  • When you see this logo and hear this music across the screen, you KNOW the movie you are about to watch is going to be TOTALLY AWSOME!!!!!!

  • shaw brothers <3

  • What company used the one w. the gradual drum beats getting louder, then fading off?

& the other one that was a quiet synthesizer playing an excerpt of a classical music composition?

  • @rockuvages The first you described is Golden Harvest (used in the 1970's). I believe the second is New World Pictures when it was under the administration of Roger Corman (The music used was the opening bars of "Promenade" from Modeste Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition").

  • @MrUnidyne I'm having a hell of a time finding either on YT. I don't think Golden Harvest is the one though. The drums I recall weren't kettle/ tympani (unless GH changed it at some point). It was a single snare drum that was hit in a steady rhythm til it faded out. (& I think w. a little reverb)

The one using "Promenade" was def' a company that did kung fu flicks. Unless my memory is shot, I don't recall it being NWP. Any links?

  • @rockuvages I think it was.We used to have a "Black Belt Theatre" on one of the local UHF channels in town and those movies with the promenade were all they showed (for the most part).

  • @MrUnidyne - I think i tracked down one of them- A company called World Northal. Ring a bell? I *think* that was the one that used the snare drum intro.

Unfortunately, (as of now), I don't think it's on YT anymore. :( I noticed its been yanked.

  • @rockuvages I checked. World-Northal used the opening bars from "Promenade".

  • @MrUnidyne -Ah! *Where'd* you Find it??

  • @rockuvages Type "World-Northal" in the search block. That's the one with "Promenade".

  • There was another theme to their opening movies ? Does anyone know where to download it from ?

  • this logo foreshadows..there will be kickin asses and bloods....men's logo for sure

  • Does anybody know what the two notes are for the timpani part?

  • i used this for my short film ... was fuckin amazing !

  • When i was younger, that theme song, signaled the start of the noon time martial arts movies. I used to watch them on channel 11 pix in NJ. I was glued to the TV when they were on.

    Shaw brothers movies rule!

  • Shaw Brothers logo is much influence by Warner Brothers (WB) from USA. Two major cinema player in the years after war...

  • i saw a sb movie where there was two men and one women fighting an entire army. adn with fireweapons but i dont renember the name of the movie.could anyone tell me the name please? i will apreciate that

  • I love the new one but I think that this logo is more classic.

  • Shaw Brothers, Gods among men.

The greatest martial arts movie makers in the whole universe.

  • anyone know who wrote the music for that intro or where I could find the mp3 of it?

  • I hope the company makes more movies of any genre especially Kung Fu

  • 6246

  • I didn't even heard of Shaw Bros or Shaw Scope until I saw Kill Bill Vol. 1

  • The Shaw Brothers cranked out films like Toyota cracks out cars. From 1951 to 1985 they produced around 1,000 films. Track down a store near you that sells Chinese DVDs. Celestial Pictures is remastering the Shaw catalog.

  • shame on you! ;)

  • @PJSkins26

:O But the Shaw Brothers are legendary. :o No one who doesn't know who they are has any business watching martial arts films, old or new.

I jest, but you really should watch some SB films.

  • Awesome logo. Also, featured on Kill Bill. SB ROX!!!

  • i love this logo

  • Shaw Brothers - one of the greatest film companies of all time (their logo is also one of the greatest intros of all time).

    -Ian C., 12-year old filmmaker

  • Pure Legend, SB forever

  • I love SB
