  • Here's the truth about this song. It was an official release in England by The Fut on Beacon Records. I had purchased a copy of this on E Bay from someone that went to a Bee Gee convention. He sent me pictures of this event with my purchase. He had the chance to talk with Maurice Gibb, and Maurice claims that the only Beatle on this record is Paul McCartney. That's the Word that I can share with everyone on Have You Heard The Word by The Fut.

  • The group the Fut put this out with "Futting" on the B-side.

  • It's The Fut!! NOT The Beatles!!

  • Look up this song online. Interesting story. This is actually some of the Bee Gees goofing around.

  • fake...ya cant fuck with us older fans ..wev'e heard every note of every song they ever sang.

  • sounds like c.r.a.p., holy s.h.i.t!!!!

  • This is by a band called The Fut.

  • Thank god it's not the Fabs!

  • @kidblacks You're welcome.

  • sounds like a Gibb brother to me....doubt its Lennon

  • The bird is the word?

  • Sounds more like a pissed up Oasis

  • No...Get out!...Don't even tell me there are STILL some people out there who think this really is The Beatles. Most of us put this one to bed a LONG time ago.

  • This is no more the Beatles than the Liverpool accents being spoken in the middle of "I Need You" by The Who are..............

  • John already wrote "Have You Heard the Word" but he just called it "The Word". Why would he write another? Sounds like they just cobbled some Beatles phrases together and made a new song.

  • (Pt3 Conclusion) ..... the monumental broadcast blunders OR, a deliberate hoax perpetrated by a mischievous editor who is probably still having a laugh at the expense of Beatles fans, 40 years later. In any event, the facts remain, the record features none of the Beatles on neither, a good, or bad or even windy day. Cheerio!

  • (Pt2) Scott was one of radios' greats, and most respected sources on foreign releases, especially with his English Hour/import segment that appeared regularly on his programs. Scott was heard to play & then back announce the record as "The Fut, consisting of members of the Beatles & Bee Gees". That's all Beatles collectors had to hear about. (If I find my copy received of the audio tape, I'll try & post it for hysterical reference). In hindsight, that little recorded moment is either one of the

  • (Pt1) Here's THE Story: The Capt & others are correct, it IS members of Tin-Tin & the Gibbs' alleged production that came out on the green Beacon label in 1970 (UK) with no official US release despite a couple hundred permitted white label copies being issued, then bootlegged. So how does such a preposterous rumor get spread?? Well, shortly after the release of the UK single, a hissy audio tape circulated of an alleged excerpt of Scott Muni playing the unknown recording on WNEW-FM radio in NY.

  • This is the Fut N O T The Beatles with the The Bee Gees on the phone! Now who sings People Say and I'm Walking?

  • fake.

  • If that's not John's voice, I'm Marilyn Monroe ! I know my God's voice !!

It's from "Carnival of Light", an unreleased song recorded on 1967.

    Paul owns the master.

  • @TheBestRockBandEver It's not. It was recorded by one of the Bee-gees in the late sixties when he was abit drunk and he put on his best Lennon impression. You can hear his real accent come through in some parts.

  • @HTprods I have the entire song in my collection and that's John's voice. It's impossible to imitate every little word and tone like that.

  • @TheBestRockBandEver I'm sorry, but it's not. You can believe that if you like but this isn't John. It's good impression but it's not John. It's by a band called the fut and they tried to imitate the Beatles on this paticular song. It's only mistaken as actually being the beatles because it was on various bootlegs. If you've got this song in your collection thinking it's the beatles well sorry but you're wrong, I'm afraid to say. You can look it up if you don't believe me.

  • @HTprods Tell that to Paul, he released the song, that's why I have it. I think he know what he recorded, but think what you want, and so do I :)

  • @TheBestRockBandEver But it's a fact, whether you like it or not. You can't just pretend it's the Beatles! It's not. It was released by a band called the Fut in 1970 on the Beacon record label! You can't argue with that because it's true. Thinking it's the beatles and not listening to those who tell you it isn't is just, and i'm sorry about this, but it's just plain ignorant.

  • @HTprods If that's what you think, so keep thinking it, but I do what I want. I don't think Paul is a liar, if this other band recorded it, they must have heard the Beatle's version. Who recorded it, in your opinion ? Anf what's the title ?

  • @TheBestRockBandEver Oh for god's sake. There is no beatles version! It's by a band called the Fut. They recorded it putting on beatles impressions. Is it that hard to understand? It wasn't written by the Beatles. It doesn't have anything to do with them apart from the impersonation. IT'S A FACT. Not an opinion, A FACT. It's not something to debate about, it's the truth. It's only been on bootlegs because the impression of John is very good but any Beatles fan could easily tell the difference.

  • @HTprods Yeah yeah a fatc ... What's the title please ?

  • @TheBestRockBandEver 'Have You Heard The Word' by the Fut. (Fact, not fatc :D)

  • This NONBeatles related song by Maurice Gibb and company has been appearing on Beatle bootlegs for years. "Futting" was recorded at the same session. The Fabs had nothing to do with this. John has stated as such.

  • Yes... not the fabs.... but a catchy song nonetheless, hmmm??

  • Yes ... this is not the Beatles. It is a very young Maurice Gibb (of Bee Gees fame) during his very early days as a singer with a band called The Frut.

  • It's a not The Beatles, the first time it apearred was around 1974, On the Bootleg Liverpool Flash, which did contain some beatle outtakes, on the same bootleg as a song called:cheese and onions, which was from the upcoming movie The Rutles. Have heard the word has been attributted to Dudley Moore and Peter Cook.

  • This song is a lot like the B side of Let It Be, "You know my name, look up the number."

  • It's The Rutles, not the Beatles

  • THIS IS FAKE----NOT THE BEATLES! Please delete this video, it insults the Beatles...

  • @gmd1417 Actually the title to the song is "Have you Heard the Word" I bought the record circa 1969. It was rumored it was recorded on a reel to reel player. I feel it is the Beatles. Bootleg albums where sought out by music fans during that time period. For who post, stop the mudslinging ! Don't shoot me, I am only the messinger.

  • anyway awesome song.

  • Nope, not The Beatles.

  • Just goes to show that even a good imitation of the Beatles makes for a great song. Too bad the rockin' middle eight was cut out.

  • it's a song that i've always heard from let it be session.

  • This is a song the Beatles Should Have recorded , A great Lennon Vocal !

  • I take this video.Thx. for it!

  • Why does it cut off in the middle like that and leave out the whole piano solo? Anyway... yes, to everyone who has caught on that this is not the Beatles, you're right... it's not...

  • haha, this is the same song which appeared on the "carnival of light" video (yes, one of many), this is by another band, it's a good song nonetheless, but is not Have You Heard the Word (which is not a beatles song mind you).

  • This could've been a great song if the Fab 4 would've worked harder on it. You can tell they were still experimenting with getting the right sound they wanted. I know there's so much unreleased Beatles material. After all from 1966-1969 they spent a lot of time in the studio. This song already has the making of a "feel good" sound. It's too bad they didn't work harder on it. Thanks a lot for sharing this rare treat for us.

  • thatsthe bee gees

  • The Fut totally

  • fake. crap.

  • retard

  • Abbacraft, you're an idiot. This is not a Beatles song and you know it. Of course, you won't change the description because you want people to watch this crappy video you made. Fix or update the description.

  • IT'S THE BEE GEES

  • is it the Herd by any chance?

  • The lead does sorta sound like Lennon but it ain't them. Lets face it in the 60s - 70s EVERYONE was trying to sound like the Beatles.

  • It's not The Beatles. This is from a 1970 recording session by Australian pop act, "Tin Tin" (their hit was "Toast & Marmelade For Tea"). They are joined by their producer, Maurice Gibb of the Bee Gees. The recording was released as a bootleg 45 rpm that same year under the mystery band name "The Fut".

  • It most certainly IS the Beatles... I own a copy of the bootleg this tune is on...

  • This is Neil Innes. (Rutles)

  • It's not the Beatles , It's the Bee Gees , John Lennon said that !

  • john song or paul song???

  • This is NOT the Beatles - this is a Beatlesque song by a band called The Fut with Maurice Gibb of the Bee Gees on lead vocals! It has long confused Beatles fans into thinking this song was by the Beatles because of the John Lennon-like vocals!

It was released as a single in 1970 in the UK on the Beacon label (cat. no. BEA 160) and the flipside was an instrumental titled "Futting". And I'm talking legimitate here!

  • yep , MAURICE GIBB along with Members of the Band , TIN TIN , Who had a Hit with "TOAST AND MARMALADE FOR TEA".

  • And carnival of light was made in 1966.

  • THIS IS A REMIX OF CARNIVAL OF LIGHT-An unreleased beatles song AND SOMETHING ELSE.

  • I don't believe Carnival Light has any lyrics. I have heard Paul describe it as the Beatles just playing their instruments randomly in a very playful way as they mucked about before a recording session. It was not melodic or particularly structured.

  • Sounds like OASIS!!!

  • This is NOT The Beatles and no, that's not Paul screaming in the background - it's Maurice Gibb singing lead (Bee Gees), by the way.

  • oh yeah, this IS The Beatles! you can tell by Paul's screams in the backround and the main singing is no other than the famous John Lennon! if you pay attention to their voices, you can tell

  • what are you people talking about?!?!?! isn't this Carnival of Light????? The whole track is nearly 14 min long! GOD I wish I had it!

  • flagged as SPAM

  • Its definitely not an issue that warrants shit talking in ALL CAPS. On that note, I agree, calm the fuck down.........

However, this is ABSOLUTELY NOT THE BEATLES ( see, kinda fucking annoying actually, right?) First of all, its a completely different style of recording than they did in 1969...take a listen to the "get back rehersals" This mix is crap. Even on total fuck-around jams, the band HIGH AS FUCK, and singing in german and whatnot, sound Significantly better than this recording......

  • it's FAKE

YOU PEOPLE ARE WATCHING A PIECE OF SHIT!!!

  • this is not carnival of light because i have seen how long the whole thing was and carnival of light is alot longer and weirder

  • also something else that this version doesnt play is....I think Ringo at the end says Ive heard the word yes?

  • for anyone that cares...i have a bootleg album from....abbey road era ...that has abbey road takes, ive had it for about 20 years...there is a cover with the beatles on it and also "Have you heard the word".

  • It is NOT the Beatles. Yes, the lead vocal sounds a lot like John, but upon more careful listening I can tell it's an affected imitation. From my understanding, it came out in 1970 in the UK on the Beacon label credited to The Futz. And the group featured Bee Gee Maurice Gibb, and Steve Kipner & Steve Groves of Tin Tin (who Maurice produced, and they had a hit with "Toast and Marmalade For Tea" the following year). John himself said he had nothing to do with it.

  • @captaineasychord1 correct,I have the 45,its by The Fut

  • This is THE FUT play "Have you Herd the Word"

  • Absolutely correct! And Maurice Gibb of the Bee Gees was on lead vocals here.

  • no. it is definitely not.

  • Leon, everything you have stated about this song is absolutley correct ! Perhaps we can put the lid on it now...

  • Yet another song which is NOT the Beatles, just like "Peace of mind", the cover version of "I Want You (She's So Heavy", "Cheese and Onions", "L.S. Bumble Bee" etc etc etc I actually HAVE this 45, it's on the UK Beacon label and features Maurice Gibb and Tin Tin's Steve kipner and Steve Groves. Yoko Ono even registered it to Lenono Music in 1985, she was so convinced it was John!!!

  • good song but not the beatles. its the fut i beleive. christ just search for 'have you heard the word' and youll see.

  • There is something boring and repetitive in this song that Beatles never showed, so it looks to me as a fake only for this reason, although they sound like Beatles, and the voice is remarkably similar to John's.

  • not john for sure

  • this track is on beatles studio outtakes volume 3. it is real. i think it was written for abbey road album sessions

  • The Beatles have NOTHING to do with this song - it's one of the bee gees with some of his friends but NO BEATLES !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Calm the fuck down.

  • de la merde ce titre

  • I heard this a long time ago. THIS IS A FAKE. I know it's hard to believe because the vocals sounds like John. But this is one of the best fakes made of all Beatles fakes.

  • The are not the Beatles, maybe the Faekes, Betles flavor, but not a Lennon-Mccartney thing

  • humma humma humma have you heard about the bird, well everybody knows that the bird is a word!

Bird bird bird, bird is a word.

    The bass does resemble McCartney.

  • this song appeared on early Beatles bootleg albums. It's supposedly the band Tin Tin, whose LP was produced by Maurice Gibb. It was aslo issued as a 45 as 'The Fut'. great 'Lennon-McCartney' chat at the end, which was edited out here.

  • Sounds more like Klaatu,lol.

  • That is definitely John on lead Vocals. Maybe Yoko howling in the background. Doesnt seem to be the other Beatles in the background, although sounds like McCartney on bass.

  • Easily the greatest fab four song is all of history.!

  • I've got this record... it's not the Beatles. Although it WAS originally meant to fool everyone into thinking so - - and I guess to some extent, it HAS....

  • to jzerony: Yeh, I bought this as a boot-leg record many years ago.......and the feeling at the time was that it was NOT the beatles.....BUT....I must say it really has a beatles flavor to it....especially the bass line

  • This has nothing to do with the Beatles. The personnel of this song was Maurice Gibb (vocals), Steve Kipner, Steve Groves, and Lulu's brother Billy Lawrie.

John said the Beatles weren't on it, Kipner and Groves said the Beatles weren't on it... get the picture already?!

  • so whats the bands name and the real name of the song cause its not that bad its really good

  • They were credited on the single as "The Fut", but they had no idea why, or why it was released as a single. (It was done without permission.)

The real name of the band was Tin Tin.

  • This song is said to be not a beatles song but a fake.

Actually, this is The Futz (single: Beacon 160, issued 1970)

    Middle eight is missing.

  • Sure, the melody is nice, but it's just "too simple" for the Beatles. It seems like something's missing from it.

  • What's "missing" is Lennon & McCartney writing and the Beatles performing this song. Obvious fake.

  • Yeah. John himself has said that it is fake. Although he dd credit them for doing a very good imitation.

  • i remember seeing this title on bootlegs in the 70's but i have no idea if this is actually the song (or for that matter a real Beatles performance)-sounds "iffy"to me.

  • this song doesnt belong to the beatles... its a FAKE... the sound its poor and the voices dont match with j-p-g or r... please dont waste your time asshole

  • It's Lennon in the front singing and paul in the backround! And the sound is poor becous it's LP Bootleg called "Spicy Beatles Songs".

  • @abbacraft Bootlegs are notorious for including songs that aren't the Beatles and passing them off as The Beatles.

  • @abbacraft No, it's Maurice Gibb on vocals. Everyone involved said that NO Beatle was in the studio when this song was recorded. Seriously, when EVERYONE IS TELLING YOU IT'S FAKE, why do you still persist? Jesus Christ, I own the 45 of this!

  • @abbacraft I have that bootleg, unfortunately its not The Beatles,I went out and bought the 45 and its by The Fut.It sounds like he Beatles but its not.

  • @edwinLennon stupid

  • @edwinLennon

Eeehh...? I've had this on a vinyl pirate for 35 years. I "know" The Beatles. I know how they sing, how they play, how they sound when they "goof around" or trying out new songs. Yes, there are fakes out there. This is NOT one of them. This is from the Twickenham/Abbey Road sessions in the late 60ies. Get your facts and ears straight my friend.

  • wasnt this song recorded by maurice gibb

    from the beegees?

    im sure its not beatles.

    but its great !!

  • Yes I think so, but its still a unrelesed song, even if it's a cover.

  • @luciferion2000 is Lennon voice
