i'm from poland. we have public healthcare and, believe me - most of the people in eu are complaining on public healthcare. people are forced to pay, but they're getting nothing back. for important operations they have to wait for example one year. in that time they die first before they get that operation.
That's terrible. However, the U.S. system, for 40 million people who have no health insurance and don't even have the option of waiting a year, is worse. And you are very misinformed to think private health care has nothing to do with the current crisis. It has everything to do with it, most Americans are covered by private insurance and if your theory was correct, they would be content.

Medicare and Medicaid also increased demand for healthcare, and that increased prices. The private system is ran over by the government already. The government can never fix anything. I can't tell you the number of people we have that come from the States to get our healthcare because they don't have any down there and they know they will get seen and treated. We have also had Canadians that got sick in the States and were treated down there, ran up MULTY MILLIONS in bills to be sent back to Canada to be treated for the mistreatment down there!
