  • Just stop suggesting the X-grip it's the same price as the Cam Caddie except it could not mount my camera because the battery would not fit on its small frame, forget trying to keep it stable adding a light or 2. It's just another knockoff riding the coat tails of a great product!

  • The Cam Caddie has upped the quality of all my videos. Revolutionary for the independent videographer.

  • Can you mount this on a tripod??

  • Is this compatible with the kodak playsport?

  • Is this compatible with the kodak playsport?

  • @LIVEtoFLY09 I don't know, but you can get something similar for around $12 at Amazon. Search for Sima light bracket and you'll see what I mean.

  • @LIVEtoFLY09 no, u just screw it in to the front but u cant c the monitor on that kind of camcorder because it doesn't pop out 2 the side. well u can its just ur going 2 have 2 hold it 2 ur face all the time.

  • great video tip of the week, im going to buy this now

  • @95bradders95 Also check out the 'Light Accessory Bracket' at Amazon. I use that now instead of the cam caddie

  • @guerillabill

i couldnt find that on amazon, how much is it, do you have a video review on it

  • @95bradders95 I do have a video review of the camcorder light bracket in the videos on my web site -bmyers com

  • @guerillabill

i checked it, it looks cool, also i have a question you may be able to answer,i just got the audio technica atr-25 condenser microphone, and as my new camcorder doesnt have a shoe compartment for extrernal inputs, is there a device which records onto sd card which i could take about portabily and record using my microphone

  • @95bradders95 Search google for 'portable mp3 recorder microphone input' to find those devices.

However, it might be a lot easier and less expensive just to get a camera that has external microphone port. Canon has several great video cameras with external mic ports starting at under $350

  • @95bradders95 here is the product on amazon

search this "Cam Caddie Camera Stabilizer"

  • opteka x grip is the same thing but its grippier. i recommend it

  • I reccomend it too. my friend just got one and i got one and its coming this week.

  • @skatingisbadass ya and u can put a light on it i like it better

  • @skatingisbadass yeah its a lot better

  • @skatingisbadass The opteka X-grip is a cheaply made knockoff of the Cam Caddie. I had one and traded it in after realizing how wobbly it gets, especially once i mounted one of my LED lights onto it. The Cam Caddie is the same price and much more professional.

  • I hope everyone knows thats for extreeme sports

  • does it carry every camcorder

  • any camcorder that has a tripod mount which is most of them if not all.

  • any camcorder with threads for a tripod

  • sorry i want to know if this cam caddie is compatible with nv-gs320

  • Just to let you guys know, the cam caddie DOES STEADY your picture, in fact thats the point. now it isnt quite as smooth as a steadicam, but it deffinitly steadies you picture considerably. I own one and it works wonders for panning without using a dolly, so long as you are careful and steady with your movements, as you would be if panning is what you are trying to do. Cam Caddie helps to smooth out step vibrations and helps to sabilize cameras and camcorders for people without steady hands.

  • just wondering Bill..!?

i am 16 years old and i usually use my camcorder for extreme-sport, mostly freestyle skiing. So since my camera is like a feather(Sony HDR - HC5) do you think it(TheCaddie) will be perfect for making follow cams on ski with an fisheye or widelens?

  • The caddie is not a steadicam - so it would show all the shakes while moving it.

Search youtube for 'homemade steadicam' and you'll find something better

  • i know it is not a steadicam, but ive never seen someone shooting a followshot with a steadycam. so i think a good widelens/fisheye, a homemade handle and some training on holding the camera still would work. Maybe i will also buy the MINIDV steadycam for ebay for 100.USD

  • HOW steady is the camcaddie? Like seriously, will it majorly smoothen out shots? I have the poor man's steady cam which i can get some fairly nice footage, but it's rly annoying to use.

  • The camcaddie is just a device to make holding the camcorder easier. It is not a steadicam, and won't smooth out the video.

  • true, but the website claims that it will convert any camcorder into a steadicam...

  • If definitely is not a steadicam

  • Cool little device!

  • you can make one of these for 5 bucks

  • hhow?

  • You are correct, I shoot all my videos on a tripod. I rarely use the cam caddie, but when I need it, it is a handy device to have around.

If you need a camcorder stablizer, you can build a pretty nice one for about $70.

Search google for 'home built camcorder stablizer' and you'll see how

  • can you use any camcorder with that im thinking about buying one

  • Almost any camcorder will work with the camcaddie

  • umm well im not sure, but i think it will,

i have a samsong mx20, about a little more than half the size of the hieght of yours, well i film skating and i have a fisheye, it is the opteka .3x fish eye for 37mm cameras, well if i have my mx20 with the .3x superwide fisheye will it still fit and not hit the part on the front?

  • can you buy those at store?

  • I found mine on eBay - I haven't seen them in retail stores

  • what camera did you use in the video

  • does the canon hv30 fit?

  • Yes, the hv30 will work with the camcaddie

  • id have to say they made the cam caddie for skateboarding... filming fisheye... not for walking around your hoyuse saying o hi... im on camera wasting tape...

  • @wpglucas So not true I've captured some amazingly smooth shots of my kids running in the backyard with our dogs using Cam Caddie.

  • I have a aiptek a-hd camecorder and i use it for skating.i need one of those for skating the aiptek has one tripod screw what do i do?

  • it will most likely work with it, most of those threads are universal 5.5mm bolts. I think your better off making one your self, it took me 10 minutes to make one in shop class out of a flat piece of metal bent in a clamp. i used a bike grip for the handle. it saved me 50 bucks and its good for filming my skate vids with.

Don't spend the money on this when you can make them yourself unless you really want it.

  • Actually if you want the exact size, the standard tripod mount is 1/4-20 (1/4 inch, 20 threads per inch). 5.5mm bolts might be a compatible match, I don't know if the threading of metric bolts would be correct.

Some larger cameras use a 3/8 inch tripod mount (I don't know what the threads per inch on that is), but any consumer or prosumer camcorder will be 1/4-20.

  • does this come with the screw to bolt it on???

and if anybody could answer this, where can you buy this for a cheap price?

  • It does come with the mounting screw.

You can sometimes find these mounts on eBay.

Or make your own using PVC. Search youtube for steadicam to see how.

  • ok, thanks

  • hey,

    does it fit

    Jvc Everio gz-ms100?

  • it goes into the universal tripod mount on the bottom of every single camcorder

  • will it work with a canon ZR-950?

  • Yes, the ZR-950 will easily work with the cam caddy.

  • how about jvc everio GZ-M155U?

  • will it work with a jvc gr-d850?

  • lol people have made these handles for a while, alot of people use it for skateboarding

and u can make your own for about $10 dollars instead of buying one for $40 dollars,

theres alot of tutorials on youtube

  • Hahaha so it doesnt fall over, does it look like the other camera without the cam caddie is falling over?!

  • i have a digital videocamera is HI8MM Canon A-1..

will fit for a cam caddie

  • watch my video on how to make one, its really easy and for about 5 or 6 $

    it will fit any camera

  • what kind of camera is the one ur useing to demonstrate with?

  • The camera shown in the video is a Sony TRV9.

  • will it work with the panasonic pv gs 90

  • yea

  • i have a canon hf10 will it make a diffrence

  • It will work with the Canon HF10.

  • hi bill, is the cam caddie compatible for canon hv20? how about if i would be placing a wide angle lens since that contributes more weight will that be alright with cam caddie "scorpion": series?

  • The HV20 will fit on the Cam caddie without any problem - with or without the wide angle lens.

  • I plan on using this product for filming skateboarding videos and I want to attach a fisheye to the camcorder. Will the fisheye get in the way?

  • A fisheye lens shouldn't get in the way. And since you can slide the camcorder forward on the mount, you can adjust the camcaddy to fit.

You might also might consider a steady-cam equivalent. It will give smoother motion than the camcaddy.

  • what do you mean by a steady-cam equivalent?? is it a different product?

  • Search google for 'home made steadi cam' and you'll see what I mean.

  • a steadi cam wouldnt work for me cuz the ones I saw didnt have handles and im gonna be filming skateboarding so I kinda need a handle to get that low angle so I think the cam caddie would work better...do you agree?

  • will a Sony DCR HC52 fit on the cam caddie?

  • There is 5.5 inches of clearance from the bottom of the tripod mount to the bottom of the top handle. Any camcorder less than 5.5 inches tall should fit.

  • I ordered mine yesterday and look forward to having it available in my camera bag. Thanks for the tip Bill.

  • sir does that cam caddie will also be advisable for CAnnon Tx1?

  • The Cam Caddie should work well with all small the mid size camcorders - as long as you don't need to attach a shotgun mike above the camcorder.

Search ebay for camcorder bracket to find other similar devices

  • Thank you sir bill :)

  • sir what is that microphone on your back.. is that the mic you use to capture your voice.. can you also feature that? my brother is is an artist and he loves playing guitar can you recommend a consumer type home recording microphone. :) thank you sir I hope you can feature it. By the way sir, I usually watch your videos and I learn a lot from video editing and tips and tricks.

  • That microphone behind me is a Samsung C01U, but it doesn't work with camcorders.

On my recording, I use a wired lavalier microphone which plugs into the camcorder.

  • Thanks again Sir Bill

  • thanks sir bill... :) Happy New Year!!!

  • cool but for $50 bucks!?!

  • great I might make one, I love custom rigging

  • God Tip Bill! :P

  • haha how cool is that

  • That's great!
