Yes, it does take some practice. But whatever sound comes naturally I'd stick to it mate and also work on some breathing techniques. Such as, pulsing. Even try imitating your fav' vocalist. Remember every black metal band has a unique sound. For example, Burzum and Mayhem. Sorry to have to put the two together, but... The vocals are far between. Yet they both sound wicked. Stick to it and I'm sure you'll develop a sound like no other.
