@mrzeke1298 lol... Funny thing to ask about, but I totally understand ;) There's a basic swimming test at the beginning of BOLC B, then Helicopter Overwater Survival Training, and there's also a swim test in SERE-C, but none of them are particularly difficult...

Spot on Fish. The Huey is ever reliable and you can cop a truck load of bullets and they keep flying. They are reliable rugid and easy to maintain. The UH60 is a fine insertion platform but they have all these avionics which are vunerable to ground fire... Huey for general battlefield ops and general duties... Blackhawk for Special Ops insertion... Overall Huey... 412 is superb .. The Zulu Cobra is much better dedicated gunship than the Apache but if you want to know heli not to buy NH90

@TheFisherman290 Apaches are attack aircraft; Blackhawks are multipurpose. Blackhawk saved my butt in Somalia, so I'll always have a special place in my heart for them (needless to say). Apache can't carry troops or cargo. Both awesome aircraft, two different roles.

@TheFisherman290. Funny, but don't forget about the DAP BlackHawk. Because that my friend, is better and out performs the Apaches in almost every aspect. That's one of the reasons Spec Ops uses those instead of the Apaches, because the want the best gunship. I'll say the Apache is 3rd best behind the DAP Bird( Blackhawk) and the AH-1 Cobra. Besides. the Apaches spend more time in maintenance then flying. LOL

@ilovereagon Not that I know of. I've seen some guys that are like 5'2" where as others that are over 6' 4". The seats in a helicopter are adjustable. The height requirement I think you are talking about might be for fighter jets and other aircraft where the seats might not be as forgiving for tall or short people.

I'm 6'2" and the only thing that they told me that I couldn't fly was the OH-58. I've spent a lot of time in the MH-6, which, as ChopperDoc will tell you, is quite small but it's all good to go for me.

And rosscobosco, they're more advanced, therefore yeah, more shit to break but, that being said, they do pretty well for the environments they've been in. Of course, I should shut up as I only fly, not fix. ME TOOPY PILOT TYPE. DUHHH

@ilovereagon For OH-58 Kiowa's, I think the max height is right around 6'. I'm 6'2 and am too tall for 58s.

@rosscobosco I worked on Hueys for 4 years, and I will say that yes, the Blackhawk is not quite as reliable, but mainly due to all the avionics and more moving pieces. Most of the time it's a great helicopter though. The Huey is more like the "Chevy" of the sky, easy to fix with almost anything. The Hawk is more like a "Ford", cause you need special tools and all the right parts lol.

When it comes to complex machines "reliable" can be a difficult definition. In hostile (combat) environments there is no real comparison as to which will complete the mission. The hawk has 2 engines, the huey 1, the hawk has 3 redundant hydrualic pumps the huey 1, the hawk has 3 redundant generators the huey 2. I have piloted both (UH-1 Desert Storm/UH-60 OIF) and loved the huey but it can not keep up with the hawk as a war machine.

I got you though, I was just learning how to employ my bullet cam in this video, for the most part at least. Can't fly low all the time, well, I wish we could, but it's just the way it goes.

You have to be ever so careful when "hotdoggin". I was doing something I should not have been in Korea with 10 SOB. They are notorious for erecting electrical lines from hilltops. I almost caught one when following a river around a small mountain. That would have been ugly. Otherwise the guys in back had no idea, but I demanded a vow of silence from them. Had a class D which I caught hell for. My CO required an investigation. He knew what we were doing but we all stuck to our "story".

I used an apu handle style clip, which had a hole in the center. Then it just took one screw to put it where ever, and then I secured the cam to the clip with 2 zip ties.

Nice dude..I'm an old legacy guy, Hawk chief in the 82nd mid 80's, NG later 89-05. Became QC ass lol. Maintained flight status most of career, later flights were just test flights/deploying shit. I was in the day of havng to tape up cockpit instruments for night flight, and holding up grunt NVG goggles with a cord around neck..only had pics back then, no video. Keep em rolling man...:)

I used a helmet camera which was very small. Made it easy to use a wire clamp. So it was screwed on, then I would zip tie the wire.

We can use them for that as well as a tool for aiming at night. But yes, mostly we use it to spot things.
