My gawd, i'm in love to the necromancer class again! I love controlling the dark arts and summoning foul minions to do my dirty work while casting debuffs on the enemy and laughing at them from afar when their souls are being eaten away by both dark magic and feral ghoulish demonic abominations!
@Tommy0145 sadly he didn't show that when you use daggers as a necro you get massive ghostly claws to tear away at stuff :D (but he was correct about life steal)
Actually the axe is a ranged weapon. It is not use for melee. The necromancer uses it to apply bleeding and deal damage. As well as remove buffs. I know, because I love the necromancer. I <3 <3 <3 them.

Just a note on the WoW comparison: As a long-time Warlock there, if you don't swap out demons relatively frequently as the situation demands, you're a baaad Warlock. Sure you can still be average just running with 1 pet per spec, but to be a GOOD Warlock, you're swapping to provide different buffs your group may be lacking and to gain access to different utility abilities like Sacrifice or Seduce.
@NiteSaiya you make it sound like your swapping out pets every fight... in current wow if ur demo spec u use felguard for aoe dps and felhunter for single target and ur done. imp for destro and felhunter for afflic.
@NiteSaiya sacrifice wont matter because if you are getting attacked you are gonna die anyway, and in pvp its a 10k shield which doesnt even make up for the time it took to summon the damn thing.I arenaed with the best demo lock of my realm and switching pets for him was merely a waste of time.
I think the necro is gonna be one of the most interesting classes and one of the most challenging to play well in group PvP. I'm guessing guardian and ofc mesmer are going to be quite fun to play in a PvP support role too though. Be interesting to see how much that raises the skill cap on those profs as compared to others.

@D543D Nahh.. Twas a staff. When necros cast some spells his/her staff gains an effect wich looks like some sort of shadow scythe. Looks fucking sweet though :)
Just to clear things up, necromancers do not use scythes. The skill, Necrotic Grasp, gives your staff an effect that makes it look like a scythe. Thumbs up if this helps.
Has anyone else made sure to get all the achievements just to get some of the items? Also, anyone notice the scythe being wielded in 2 hands in this video but not mentioned?
@MrDrowsorcerer The scythe is actually a weapon skill that makes the necro's staff look like a scythe for a brief moment. I think the skill is "Reaper's touch", but i can't confirm that.
I'm more than likely going to be rolling a Necro myself. More than likely rolling Sylvari too. Although I'm kind of on the fence with Sylvari or Asura.
"Necromancers have the highest health of the scholars". Necromancers actually have the highest health in the game - on par with Warriors. Confirmed on the Reddit AMA session.
Sylvari, as a race, are young and have little knowledge of "death" in general. As a result, some Sylvari are intrigued by "death" and set out to study every aspect of it.

Reason for comparison is because WoW is a quality mmo, one of the best out there currently, and where it is compared to GW2, you can see how amazing GW2 actually looks.

I'm sorry, but how does anyone even know this yet? It's highly possible that there will only be 1 or 2 useful minions in the game. Your videos are starting to give me an advertising feeling, like you're trying to sell the game instead of give any sort of personal input.
@gpbg22 Arguably all of the minions in WoW are useful too, but we all know that's untrue. Playing a game for a few minutes at Pax really doesn't give you insight to the actual usefulness of them.
I agree he doesn't go into detail how different minions will be of different use. But I think its because there is not a lot of information to give insight or his thoughts about it. Especially since they are still working on the classes, even more right now with the closed beta going on.
@C0mputaBox In WoW, you can only have 1 demon out at a time. When was the last time you needed to use a voidwalker? In GW2, minions take a utility slot, so you could go the route of taking as many minions as possible, or take one or two for whatever purpose you need them for. It makes sense based on the mechanics of the game...
@Alexrediculous That was always a problem that I had in Wow. Most of the time I had my imp and fel guard out. The other demons were either too locked to one situation (for example the Succubus) or just completely useless (somewhere the void walker is crying in a corner). When I had hands on the demo of the game, I went for necromancer and the minions felt very different and very useful in all situations, granted if you count screwing around the game.
@Alexrediculous Voidwalker is extremly useful against many classes that dont have Dispel Abilities and as you should know there is this spell that lets you resummon your minion almost instantly and while i like the Guild Wars 2 approach more. We shall wait if the best PVP&PVE Players use one or many minions and they will determine how Guildwars 2 is played (with some exceptions). We also don't know if Arenanet has made some flaws in their game balance...
@Alexrediculous Plus you can get this information from the developer blogs or interviews they have had on youtube and twitter. He's not trying to sell the game, he's just getting the information out there for those who don't know where to look for it. The game sells itself :D
@Alexrediculous you dident say that they had more minions <.< you said that there is a reason to use different minions... which as stated above you dont know, it is possible, but as far as pet design goes it will probbly be only 1 or 2 pets that are viable
@C0mputaBox expanding on what alex said, minions often have diferent effects like one stealing health with each attack to heal the master, or some attacking at far range. Their versatility is even furthered by the fact the the sequence skill that replaces the minion skill when used, sacrifices the minion for a vastly different and useful effect. example:explode for damage, sacrifice for healing, explode spreading conditions
Hmm, hopefully this won't sound insulting to you but why wasn't there much coverage on the sustainability of the necromancer in the video and more on the minions. Or is that what they have become in guild wars 2?
Alex you should make an overview video explaining the depth of the skills in this game. Every single class has multiple UNIQUE skill mechanics. That's only one sentence, but it means so much. No MMO has even come close to the depth and complexity of class design in gw2, and its hard to see the depth upon first glance.
you could also mention tactics and things as the way to customize your character, after youve experimented with different weapon sets.

I'm actually kind of scared. I realized that from the looks of this game a large portion of the world of warcraft fanbase will jump onto this. Does this mean we're going to have pissed off kids expecting everything to be easy until it is scaled to what they want?

Reason for comparison is because WoW is a quality mmo, one of the best out there currently, and where it is compared to GW2, you can see how amazing GW2 actually looks.

I'm sorry, but how does anyone even know this yet? It's highly possible that there will only be 1 or 2 useful minions in the game. Your videos are starting to give me an advertising feeling, like you're trying to sell the game instead of give any sort of personal input.

@gpbg22 Arguably all of the minions in WoW are useful too, but we all know that's untrue. Playing a game for a few minutes at Pax really doesn't give you insight to the actual usefulness of them.

I agree he doesn't go into detail how different minions will be of different use. But I think its because there is not a lot of information to give insight or his thoughts about it. Especially since they are still working on the classes, even more right now with the closed beta going on.

@C0mputaBox In WoW, you can only have 1 demon out at a time. When was the last time you needed to use a voidwalker? In GW2, minions take a utility slot, so you could go the route of taking as many minions as possible, or take one or two for whatever purpose you need them for. It makes sense based on the mechanics of the game...

@Alexrediculous That was always a problem that I had in Wow. Most of the time I had my imp and fel guard out. The other demons were either too locked to one situation (for example the Succubus) or just completely useless (somewhere the void walker is crying in a corner). When I had hands on the demo of the game, I went for necromancer and the minions felt very different and very useful in all situations, granted if you count screwing around the game.

@Alexrediculous Voidwalker is extremly useful against many classes that dont have Dispel Abilities and as you should know there is this spell that lets you resummon your minion almost instantly and while i like the Guild Wars 2 approach more. We shall wait if the best PVP&PVE Players use one or many minions and they will determine how Guildwars 2 is played (with some exceptions). We also don't know if Arenanet has made some flaws in their game balance...

@C0mputaBox expanding on what alex said, minions often have diferent effects like one stealing health with each attack to heal the master, or some attacking at far range. Their versatility is even furthered by the fact the the sequence skill that replaces the minion skill when used, sacrifices the minion for a vastly different and useful effect. example:explode for damage, sacrifice for healing, explode spreading conditions

Alex you should make an overview video explaining the depth of the skills in this game. Every single class has multiple UNIQUE skill mechanics. That's only one sentence, but it means so much. No MMO has even come close to the depth and complexity of class design in gw2, and its hard to see the depth upon first glance.
you could also mention tactics and things as the way to customize your character, after youve experimented with different weapon sets.

WoW isn't going to be the top game forever its to outdated and expansions aren't going to do much but introduce things to the already starting to drop game yea they'll get a few returning to try it out but it'll prob just be that try it out and then move on unless they remake the game i doubt it will grow from this point out simply decrease.

@sashakid i don't respect WoW for one reason and that is its publisher Blizzard is greedy as shit when it come to there games and i don't believe a company like that should of had such a successful game. They milked WoW so much people are just sick and tired of it and that's what vanilla players have told me. I agree its a good game bad publisher.
