Because, when you buy a car or a home, or even if you rent an apartment by yourself (no parents or friends) for the first time. The dealer or landlord would first look at your credit score. And if you have no credit score and are wishing to rent of own a car they would most likely decline you because you have no credit. Building credit unfortunately, requires a credit card and A LOT of financial discipline and common sense.
