MP3 for sound is totally rubbish. It does not beat CD or MiniDisk for sound quality.

Yeah I know you can carry around a zillion albums on the your MP3...thats the only convienience it offers. I have an MP3 player and within a week I went back to using the MiniDisc because the sound quality - you guessed it, was alot better. I almost want to say that even tape is better than MP3.

Ever try ramping up the quality? And besides... You can only really tell once you get to a sertain bitrate. Not to mention the type of Speaker/headphones make alot of difference. And I'd perfure 200 songs in desent quality over 20 songs in perfect quality anyday.

Yeah. Way ahead of you. I've gone thru the equaliser and SRSWow menus to 'ramp up' the sound quality and I've changed headphones that have great sound and balance. Thats why I wrote my last comment. I prefer the 20 songs in perfect-quality as opposed to 200 in ok-quality. You mentioned bit rate. My player doesn't allow me to change the Bitrate. Does it help?
