  • I do all of my own stunts

  • he reminds me of jim carey

  • @Waschbear69 Because it is

  • "Man on the Moon" was not a good representation of the actual person, or situations. They tried to make it so obvious, that the magic of detail was lost. AK knew his art. Check it out for yourself, you will see. It's almost like re-painting a Picasso for a modern day audience.

  • @cmMerlin oooohhhh reaaaaaaaaaaaally? YOU SO CLEVER

  • R.I.P Andy x

  • 1:17

    Hot Swettie

  • 1:01 - 1:05 = <3

  • In this scene Tony Clifton sounds a lot like the Penquin in Batman Returns - that's the reason why de Vito looks so awkward.

  • Great stuff! At 1.04 the expression on the dancer's face is priceless... why the hell am I doing this? Andy's gone, Tony lives forever! I think it's called irony. Or something...

  • Clifton is way better than Kaufman or Carey or Zumuda or that Taxi driver dude

  • And Bob Zmuda is really actor Paul Giamatti...

So that Andy (Carrey) and Tony (Giamatti) can appear on stage simultaneously.

    ???

  • Love Danny DeVito's face when Tony Clifton asks if he can borrow his water. He's just like, "Take it. I don't give a rat's ass." lmao

  • @babygiraffe123 He borrowed the piano players water. Devito was nowhere near the stage.

  • @klwewf

Ok, so maybe I AM mistaken, but I always saw it as him taking the water from DeVito. Nonetheless, I still like the look on his face.

  • @klwewf

But thank you anyway, for pointing that out. Seriously never noticed.

  • UNBELIEVABLE Tony singing while Andy(Jim) does a very important routine.

  • Genius!!!! Andy and Jim too!

  • 2:24

  • whats the song tony sings???

  • Silvertrine has made my day with these comments. I'm sorry, but you just don't know what you're talking about. Clifton is a character created by Andy Kaufman and Bob Zmuda, they both played that character and sometimes Andy's brother. They wanted the audience to believe they where both two different persons, so that's why Zmuda played Clifton a few times on Letterman and did some shows here and there. The rest was all Andy.

  • KAUFMAN!!!

  • "i will be myself or i will die" and be another....

  • Comment removed

  • well why dont you cry about it RobGoth100? How about the commentary about how funny this movie is? Oh I guess thats too much common sense.

  • first time i thought it he was so mean. until i knew the story lol

  • is that black chick Michelle Obama? Sure looks like her..

  • this shit is funny

  • (鳥。)

  • HILARIOUS...How did the Dancing Girls keep a straight face!?

  • @Bigum99

    Well they're all Christians.:!

  • @cedrikledlp

that's why we don't see any priests around!

  • This is bad ass.

  • Too many dumb cut aways.

  • Andy, Bob Zamuda and supposedly also Andy's brother all played Tony Clifton at various times.

In the movie, Clifton is played by Carrey (playing Andy), Paul Giamatti (playing Zamuda) and possibly a third person in the final scene (though it might also have been Carrey, it's left deliberately unclear).

  • @bluechao said:

"Andy, Bob Zamuda and supposedly also Andy's brother all played Tony Clifton at various times."

You can see his brother (Michael Kaufman) playing Clifton at the end of "Andy Kaufman Plays Carnegie Hall" (1980). It wasn't Zmuda, because Zmuda was on stage at the same time wearing a referee's outfit. And Andy himself was busy playing a bogus Clifton, meaning there were two Tony Cliftons performing together at that point(!)

  • *Clank* SHUT UP!!!...SHUT THE HELL UP!!! LMAO

  • Its like hes saying "Shutuhmp" 'shut the hell ump"!!!

  • That is Jim Carrey playing Andy, right?

  • That's right.

  • yep.

  • Did this ever actually happen? Was it televised?

  • this is from the film man on the moon

  • Dont neg me who negged me. I try to talk some sense into you people and this is the thanks I get.

  • this is from the movie about andy kaufman. man on the moon... it's not a live tv broadcast silvertrine..

  • You might just be the stupidest person who ever lived.

  • You might have the little brain power to be offended or upset by me labelling you as very stupid. But, you will never figure out why you are now labelled as such.

  • @Silvertrine

Could you possibly have said anything more moronic than this?

  • @Silvertrine haha you have no idea how retarded you are.

do you even know what the internet is?

can you use it to actually learn or just watch videos?

look something up for a change.

  • Retarded for what? Knowing that Clifton had more talent in his pinkie than Kaufman had in his entire leg bone? If so guilty as charged.

  • Comment removed

  • @Silvertrine the joke is on you!!!

you are retarded cause if youd do a little research you'd know that tony clifton was a character created by ANDY KAUFMAN and Bob Zmuda.

so in saying that clifton has more talent than Kaufman your contridicting yourself!!

and for a little information Clifton was played by either Kaufman, Zmuda, or Andys Brother.

you must feel really stupid right now.

  • @TBeanIV Hey bozo Clifton appeared with Jim Carrey during promotion for Man on the Moon. How could Clifton appear with Carrey in the 90's if Clifton was Kaufman. Kaufman died in the 80's. Get some brains.

  • @Silvertrine uum i just explained that in the comment below idiot clifton has also been played by Bob Zmuda and Andy Kaufmans brother, Michael Kaufman.

now you must feel even stupider.

  • he sounfs like a muppet

  • SHUT UP!!! SHUT THE HELL UP!! ALL OF YA.... There is an ARTIST ON STAGE....

  • My dad was teasing me about my new flag football outfit, and I timed it just right to when Tony yells "SHUT UP!!!!!!!!" I just burst out laughing!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow what an interesting story...

  • What's the name of the first song sung by Clifton?

  • Ha, funny shit

  • From 1:11 - 1:58, 2:14 - 2:43, Tony is played by Paul Giamatti. The rest of the time he's played by Jim Carrey.

  • So you're saying that between 1:58 and 2:14 and beyond 2:43, Tony is played by Jim Carrey, EVEN THOUGH Carrey is standing right beside Tony? Would you please explain how he was able to do that?

  • well, notice how in the times I listed that Jim Carrey as Andy Kaufman isn't in the shot. Only Tony is. Get it?

And they probably did a lot of cutting and editing and trick photography.

I don't know if what I said is understandable, but it's the best I could do. : )

  • this is from man on the moon.....

    not real!

  • Tony was just as good as Wayne Newton, if not better.

  • lol 2:07

  • jim care did him amazingly...

  • Was this incident real when tony splash water into carrey face?

  • wow this is a movie so i would belive so?

  • Would you beleive it if the movie wasn't a true story? Let me ask you that.

  • Clifton is the ultimate troll job

  • Ha ha, now you are all wet!

  • According to wiki, Tony Clifton and Andy were the same persons.

Clifton was an Entertainer and a really awful Singer, as you can see in this clip, he missed almost every tune he sang.

  • dboakye, yes at the beginning they were the same person. but later a friend of Andy's took over the role, because Andy wanted to trick people so everyone would not think that Andy and Tony were the same person after all. Even Jim Carrey even admitted this in an interview a few years before this movie was made.

  • dude you can't believe everything wikipedia say. first of all, i saw that tony played by a different person and plus they were a lot of edits too by some unknowns persons. so you can't believe everything wikipedia said.

  • so you would belive a website over true reality?

  • 120-135, just awesome. He actually though that the people were clapping for him. LOL x 2.

  • Genius :D

  • Ya the had pretty much the entire real cast of taxi, plus Bob Zamuda in the movie and from I heard they all said Jim Carrey did a great job

  • MINUS Danny DeVito becasue he was palyin George Shapiro, and another oen just didn't want to do it.

  • Jim Carrey Rules! This is one of his best films so far.

  • This was from the movie Man on the Moon.

  • Where is the song that sings Tony Clifton ?

  • What are you asking?

  • he's asking what song is tony clifton singing

  • That's okay. You don't have to agree w/ me. That's part of what this Earth is all about. Differences, etc. But, I'm just too exhausted at this moment to go into all of what my point is & why I feel I can back it up. I prefer watching the real Andy - that's all.

  • mmmmm Danny DeVito! hehe ;D

  • veeeery funny, hrrr..zzz, hrrrr....zzzz, hrrrr.....zzzz....

  • This is really greay stuff of entertainment!

  • 1:42 to 2:10 is epic :D!

  • OK. I'm sure I'll get thumbs down for this, but, I'm prepared. The only good thing about this movie was that The great Andy Kaufman was remembered and paid homage to. I don't think Jim C. nailed him as much as everyone says. Jim was picked because he is a big name comedic actor. But, there were people that could have done an even better job. Ed Norton (think about it) & Kevin Spacey - who both auditioned. Just think about my comment after you read it, before I get all the hate mail folks.

  • I'm not really sure. I love both Kevin Spacey and Edward Norton and I'm sure they both would have done great jobs, but I love what Carrey did with the part. It's weird, but I doubt that anyone doing the role would have been accurate considering how little you can really nail down about Kaufman, but I think Jim's flavor was just right. His ability to act in a serious manner mixed with his solid comedic background puts him ahead of those other legends in my eyes for this role.

  • I respect your opinion. To me though, Jim C. was "doing" all the things Kaufman "did" - BUT still being Jim C. He was not portraying Kaufman to me (it was Jim Carrey doing Andy Kaufman material). Watch some REAL Kaufman things here on YouTube. Then, watch a Man on the Moon clip seconds after. You'll see what I mean. Besides, Ed N. has more of that "are we supposed to laugh here?", sometimes dark humor, like Kaufman. Remember "Fight Club"? And, Ed looks more like Andy.

  • @klwewf but when you pick an actor to play a play a real person the best lookalike might not of done the best job. have a little imagination its what kaufman wouldve wanted.

  • i always LAAAAUGH my ass off when i see these!

  • Shut up there is an artist on stage!

  • I just love jim carey, he is an amazing actor.

  • this is a scene from "man on the moon" staring jim carry.

  • Thanks you fuckin' genius! We need people like you to make sure we get our facts straight. I'll hand it to you though, you rank right up there with the other fuck heads who write dumb shit for comments, but at least you didn't make any spelling mistakes. That puts you 1 point above the dumb inbred hicks... Congratulations!

  • Amen Brother!

  • Hahaha! Actually, he did misspell or made a grammatical error (whichever you want to use).

The knuckle head wrote "it not" as opposed to "it's not" or "it is not". So, it's an inbred hick after all! :D

  • lmfao

  • in real life andy and Bob would both play tony

if ne was tony, the other would heckel his show. andy got thrown out of many of his own shows

  • YES!!!!! UTTER GENIUSNESS!!!!!

  • SHUT UP!!!!!!!

  • This movie is truely so ramdonly....just like this part on the movie..it was an awesome !

  • there is a gourmet pizza restaurant in New York City called Two Boots (two locations). if you ever go, order the Tony Clifton, its delicious!!!

  • its beyond funny.

  • Actually, that was Jim Carry as Andy

  • its not carry, Paul Giamatti played him the whole way throught the film

  • Do you not remember the scene at his house when he walked into the kitchen? It was carry there,

  • whats your last name up and down in the water

  • What about when Tony dumped the water on PAuls head? Jim had to of played Tony in that scene.

  • When Tony says "oh whether im wrooong" the way he says "wrong" cracks me up! LOL LOL I dont know how people couldnt find this hilarious,

  • There is an artiiist on staaage! LOL LOL LOL

  • shut up!..shut the hell up! lmao

  • Paul Giamatti is actually playing Tony/Andy in this scene.

  • really? i thought it was his pal ... the manager or lawyer guy.

  • Played by Paul Giamatti...

  • Too people who never understood the whole Tony Clifton gimmick, they will never get it. It was kinda a spoof on washed-up lounge singers. It was like played bad guy wrestler...

  • no, you are thinking of the feuds with Jerry Lawler when Andy was a pro wrestler. that is NOT Jerry Lawler, dude.

  • It was one in the same as Andy was mimicking all the time what it would be like to be a bad guy hence the Clifton character. It was all in a chapter in the Zmuda book that came out bro...

  • i wanna do that one day, thats an intense face

  • hahahahaha....jim carey as andy...lol

  • Legend

  • Of course this is funny. The problem was Clifton set the bar so high that nobody could follow. When people saw Clifton perform they knew they could never enjoy a lesser performer again, so they got angry.

  • commish may have something there; it would have been the same as some comedian trying to follow Rodney Dangerfield.

Can't be done, son. No kan-duu.

  • FUCKING AWESOME

  • its only funny to him and kaufman, and they happen to think its hilarious (watch the movie man on the moon to understand that and this next part)

    RAHHH!

    REHH!

    RAHH!

    REHHHHH!

    RAAAAHHHHHH!

(if u saw the part of man on the moon just after this vid, ud get that lol, so funny)

  • People are so stuck up, they deserved this.

  • Its a movie.

  • This is what they did in real life. So I guess it's nice for you to point out the obvious.

  • I wonder how funny this is after a 40 minute show

  • i didn;t think this was funny first time, but you really appreciate the comedy after watching it again

  • shut up..hehe

  • tony clifton forever!

  • People, Tony Clifton is your real father. Think about it. Did your mother every go to Vegas before you were born. Ahhh Haaaaaa

  • Kaufman's humor was hilarious - he was nuts but a genius

If you don't understand his humor you probably won't like him

  • stfu they're both mad funy

  • You've never heard of anti-humour have you?

  • I wish they had actual footage what really happened in that event.

  • The audience reluctantly goes along with the act because they think it's Kaufman under there. As soon as they realize it's NOT Kaufman, they will have none of it!

  • Paul Giamatti kicks ass!

  • that isn't real, this is from the movie, Man On The Moon.

  • Paul Giamatti is the one playing Tony Clifton in this clip

  • jim hard to tell

  • Dnt u think the bloke at 22 secs looks alot like tony clifton without glasses??!!! lol

  • Nothing beats the "Last of the Rockettes' routine. i was literally stuck in laughter limbo on the sticky floor of he theater....

  • without Jim Carrey i would've never discovered Andy.....

    THANK YOU BOTH!

  • this is my favo scene from this movie...IT RULEZ!

i was so impressed by Jim Carrey en the movie that i wanted to know more about Andy. Now i know that he is the best (comedy?)performer who ever lived :) thanks jim

  • this movie isnt the funniest ived ever seen but its really the best movie ived ever seen cuz everything is so simmilar to the real story of andy kaufman

  • thats paul Giamati playing Tony there obviously, jim Carrey is perfect as Andy Kaufman. I love this movie

  • No, I think it's Jim mostly, and Paul in the shots with Andy and one or two other shots.

  • i agree, clifton's height says it all =)

  • It's Paul Giamati the whole clip. They gave him lifts in his shoes to make him taller and whatnot just like when Bob Zmuda played Clifton for Andy in real life. Zmuda was short like Giamati and they had to come up with a bunch of different solutions to pull off Zmuda playing Andy playing Clifton and not having anyone catch on.

  • No you are wrong and I know this for a fact. Until Carrey comes into the shot, he is playing Clifton, but once he does come on stage, Giamati beings to play Clifton. You can tell my the chin and fake face skin.

  • Jim Carrey Rules! This is one of his best films so far.

I to did not know much of Andy Kaufman untill this film

was released. Thank you Jim for showing us how great he was.

  • Agreed entirely. This is Carrey's vest work to date. I knew of Kaufman from Taxi, but nothing else.

  • Apparently you have never seen Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

  • And by vest, I do of course mean best. Chuckle.
