Some archers and catapults would be extremely useful in this situation. Just place units of archers behind your samurai and target their troops slightly behind the front line.

@broncosfan02 Depends. Modern times this would be an okay army size. Maybe a little small, but still a good size, I think. In Ancient time, such as Rome, though...they had armies consisting of 400,000 people or even more.

@shinryuken0 well technically a modern size army of today would be about 80,000 to 200,000 is war time. but yes you are correct. napoleon had an army 650,000 men in his Grande Armee and that was large for and invasion of an entire contry.

This is a pretty cool video. However, the battle needs two things:

1)No lag

2) Strategy

If it had no lag and more strategy, it would be really fun to fight battles like this. Especially if you could dispatch a 5,000 cavalry hiding in the forest and SMASH the enemy's flank while they're engaged. I would love to see that.

@10MillionSlaves To be fair, I've yet to imagine a computer wrought by the hands of science that is affordable to the common bloke that can handle a battle of this scale on Shogun 2 :P

On that same note... a battle of that scale would be quite difficult to manage compared to the 'skirmishes' (by comparison) that are the norm of the game, and most people are used to, let alone seeing it all in one screen XD

i usually play TW games on low settings, but in STW2 if you lower the unit detail below ultra, dead bodies disapear after a while. It just feels weird to have a battle with 10000 men and when the dust settles theres only 20 dead guys on the floor.

@danialaffiq The battle of Sekigahara I believe had around 60,000+ men each side totalling around 120,000+ men so basically look at all the men fighting in my video and x 4. However there were battle's in Japan with around 30,000 men all together so yes in some cases this is the real size :)

@Bayliss27 Sekigahara was an unusual battle size wise as it had most of Japan mobilized. More average numbers are shown by the 4 battles of Kawanakajima fought between Takeda and Uesugi 10k vs 8k, 12k vs 8k, 23k vs 10k, 20k vs 13k. These were two large expansive Daimyos duking it out, so battles got smaller with smaller Daimyos and larger as the uniters began getting big, like at Sekigahara.
