    does it mean those sparks would work as thrusters for propulsion? i heard space people use ion thrusters in space these days (for maneuvering)

  • By charging the nails, you cause an "excess" of charge on the nails the excess of charge sets up a magnetic field, which reorganises the electrons on the pliers and they will attract

    It prefers to go out the tip because there is less surface area for the charge to spread out on, so to get the same charge per area, you need more electrons clustered on the tip, so the electric field is stronger on the tip. There is no path of least resistance, the electrons are just trying to organise themselves.
