Hmm. I read that frequent small meals is BS, because everytime you eat, you basically have a 3 hour insulin-dominant response as your body digests the food. Eat low-sugar meals less frequently, have less insulin in your body overall, burn more fat.
@sophistpigful This is false. It has been tested and proven scientifically that eating small meals frequently is healthier than eaching large meals after starvation of a few hours. After not eating for so long, your body reaches starvation mode. If you then decide to eat a large meal, it stores it as fat, its an automatic response of the body since its not sure when it will be fed again. When you eat fequently, your metabolism peaks and you burn more calories since you body's never starved.
@XoxQt4life We are all familiar with the eat-smaller-meals-more-frequently theory that you advocate. Other theories also supported by research, are worthy of our attention. I’m not committed to a single idea at the exclusion of all other evidence, and this field of study (nutrition) is wide open.
@XoxQt4life It is indeed arguable that our bodies were not meant to be in a constant state of digestion during our waking hours. Also, based upon my own study in this field, I do not believe that we will go into starvation mode within a matter of hours, if we are eating nourishing meals 3x a day.
You mischaracterize the options as being eat more than three meals a day, or over-eat when you eat only 3 meals. It is possible to eat 3 deeply nourishing meals per day and remain not hungry between meals. I have found this approach to be the most successful for me and I encourage you to consider theories outside of your pre-formed opinion and comfort zone.
