@FunkteonRecordings WOW! At my high school they didn't cover the inner workings of digital camera technology. Neato gang! Digital cameras use a CCD instead of film to capture light incoming through the lens. The CCD is sensitive to "Near" IR light frequencies, which are frequencies we cannot see with our eyes. Camera manufacturers use a filter to keep all this extra light from flooding the final image. What part of that conflicts with what your science teacher told you, son?
@FunkteonRecordings Simple enough, the "opaque" exposed film negative is only opaque to visible light. It works as an IR Pass filter, which means it blocks all but IR and near IR light. While this isn't necessary if you're only shooting in the dark, if you want to take any daylight IR photos or videos, you will need to block the visible light from the sun so you can get the IR on video.
@pauxps Yeah, I did have some problems notching the sound correctly. I'm not professional, after all. The film negative isn't really necessary if you're only using this thing in the dark. Fully exposed film negative completely blocks visible light (which is why it looks black) but it allows IR light to pass through. The film negative, therefore, acts as a cheap (free) IR pass filter, which is necessary to take IR pictures outside on a bright sunny day.
@MarkKlubertanz yeah I can't really figure out how they fixed the post-date like that, but why don't you check out the video I made yesterday, stealing from the little guy. If you pay really close attention, you'll see who's full of it. Can you hear my voice?
@MarkKlubertanz 1. Thank you for admitting that you were wrong and apologizing. 2. Understand, I'm attacking your drumming skills because you attacked me first. After two years of drumming that's really not that bad. You'd get a lot better a lot faster if you tried playing along with something better than Linkin Park though. You'll never learn anything from them because Rob Bourdon really has nothing to offer. Stick with Chris Adler, Neil Peart, and Keith Moon and you'll do well.
lol OMG. somebody, apparently this MostOFGreatVideo, stole this video, re-posted it as their own, and now you're all accusing ME of stealing it from them. amazing.
@iTzChALLeNgEd Interesting theory, except that I recorded it on my own video camera, those are my hands you see there, I did the modification myself, I put together the video myself using Pinnacle, my own voice as a voice-over, and some royalty free music as background music. I'm not sure how you define that as stealing, but thanks for watching/commenting. I always love to hear from my fans!!
@iTzChALLeNgEd Now that I think about it, it was silly of me to leave such a long response, when the short and easy response is, if you believe this video is stolen, go ahead post a link.
i shocked myself a belter on purpose, its not that bed, less than an electric fence, but enough to make you jump :)

@pukid The part where you block an entire CCD with a 99% opaque piece of 35mm film strip..

Background music too loud, and you miss the interesting part of actually removing the filter. And what's the piece of film negative good for?
