This foreign army remains in the country at the wishes of the democratically elected government.So no,you do not have the right to attack your own elected gov't or those they wish to keep for protection and then claim you are fighting for Iraq.True,most Iraqis want the US (and UK) out of Iraq,but most do not want them out tomorrow b/c they know it will mean more bloodshed and chaos.
The army is not a Christian fighting force.There are Christians, Jews, Muslims, Atheists, etc in service.

Are you guys arguing Iraqis aren't entitled to the right to resistance? Their country was invaded, conquered, occupied and destroyed as a result of the war, are they expected to stand back and stay quiet? There is absolutely no incoherence in Galloway's position, Iraqi resistance is perfectly legitimate. If the US had been conquered and was under military occupation, every single yank with self-respect would join the resistance and fight for their national sovereignty.

Iraq was ruled by a murderous dictator who was deposed. A democratically elected government of the people was set up. That government wishes for America to stay to assist with the problems they cannot solve themselves. Iraq might be occupied, but it's not occupied in the way Holland or France was. Were things better under Saddam? Maybe. Doesn't change anything I've written here though.

Galloway talks about Islamic fundamentalism more than any other politician and does so in a more serious way than anyone else. Don't mix up Iraqi resistance to military occupation and Islamic fundamentalism! In fact Iraq is more likely than ever to become an Islamic republic now that the US got rid of the secular Hussein regime and allowed Shiites to rule the country.
