Well I certainly didnt expect to see myself in this from the Rotorua trip!! You probably wont remember who I am. I was Neils admin, the useless one who couldnt recruit shit, not intentionally of course I definately tried my hardest. An interesting time there, WAAAYYY better off out of there, dont get me wrong, Neil was a nice boss, and I hated the fact I was letting him down all the time. But WAY better where I am now and have been since I was let go!! Good to see you are better off too Rudy.
My door is often knocked on by FSRs and as far as I can tell it's mainly Energy and Charity that they do here allthough sometimes they come into my workplace and sell things like mini digital cameras. I must admit I have on 2occasions purchased items from them...I bought this set of spanners and screwdrivers off em for £5 which I figured wasa pretty good deal to be honest.. My main experience of Cobra is by proxy....at least 5 of my mates have worked for em at some time or another..:)
As much as I despise the Cobra Group for having the audacity to waste a couple of hours of my time, and as much as I hope Chris Niarchos and Senior Cobra Employees develope terminal Cancer, Ioften wonder about Cobra, and what it's like in other countries. here in the UK the weather is awful for about 11 months so the turnover rate is exceptionally high. Here in UK these freaks even live together..like that in NZ Bra?
There is another reason the turnover rate is high though...yes thats right..complete scam etc etc etc so many pplz say it so it's not evenb worth going into.
I think the setup from the beginning was realy well done. It has been made into a scam by shitty owners that drive people up the wall with their obsession to 'make it'. I had dinners with Chris and some of the core guys. They ran offices completely different with much less strict rules. Fuckwitts like Haydn Murdoch in Aussie make me puke now. Though I wouldn't change it as I would have the courage or will power to succeed my own business outside cobra now.
And yes, you got some of the freak owners that take people from the office in as flatmates so they can 'protect' them from outside 'negatives' etc. I must be honest, I loved the time there as I was a traveller and had no friends anyway. These guys seem to have fun. Still dono how it ended up being 3 yrs though??!! ;-)
Yeah I can see from the pics you looked like you enjoyed your time there mate, just out of interest..did the Group pay for your travel or did u have to fork out yourself? Glad you've managed to start your own buisness with what you've learned though, your 100% better off doing ya own thing. Oh the Cobra group lol I often think back to what may have been had I lasted more than 3 hrz :)
I paid day to day travel myself. Fuck that fucked me of too. Though I had trips to Sydney (x2), Rockhampton, Christchurch, Rotorua, Wellington all paid for in 5 star hotels plus 3 weeks in Singapore (incl. a weekend in Kuala Lumpur).
I won a trip to Europe but never made it because my kid was born. Mate, I often wonder what the fuck I was thinking the day I took that 'job'... hahahahaa, everything happens for a reason??
well thats very suprising indeed. Mind you, asking you to pay for overseas travel would have really been taking the piss lol. Just out of interest..is the turnover rate high in NZ? If it's not im convinced it's due to the weather.. Im obsessed with the weather lol I hate the UK. You're obviously a decent bloke and I'm glad you haven't taken my pokes at Cobra personally lol. :)
Haha that reminds me of something Hilarious actually..Here in the UK upon passing the second ''interview'' LOL the FSRs that take you out or ''leaders'' often buy the group of ''trainees'' lunch before they go into the field..Friend of mine knew this and scammed a free Mc Chicken meal out of em before leaving for a ''couple of seconds to make a call'' and went straight to the pub lmao :)
We had some hilarious ones. A guy in Singapore just started running when I was pitching a customer.
Even though I had 17 guys in the office we had to have 12-15 interviews a day to keep up the numbers so I don't think turnover rates are big difference. Winter rains all the time here too exept that it only rains in half hour blocks rather than all day. On very bad days we set a target and first back in the office won a prize. EWhat division were you in?
Ha ha ha I diddn't make it that far mate. I literally quit after 5 minutes of the Second ''Interview'' hehe! I live in Liverpool UK and honestly have no idea which department I was going to be assigned to..as soon as I saw the pair of bags the penny dropped and I quizzed the 2 leaders about the nature of the work...unsatisfied with their speil, I decided it was best that I make my way to the pub as quickly as possible lmao. :)
The thing about this company is that from the owners perpective keeping people around who only make 5 sales a week, who even though are not making a decent living themselves are adding to the revenue the owner receives. I think different offices are run differently it depends on the people and the product. The office I was in died. It was kind of a sad story.
Pple will always ome and go and it is about replacing them. I realised I had different things in life to accomplish after my son was born. It never took away the fact that I know more now then before. After Cobra I could get into a good sales job with 50k + commission, something that I wouldn't have got before. Now I started my own company, something I would never even dream of before.
Hey I worked for Cobra for 10 months a few years back. I made like 300 dollars a week on average or so averaged out and started at 11 or 12 and finished at 8.30pm, I once worked out that I was making 5 dollars an hour or something like that on average, not counting money for expenses.
If you still average that after 10 months..... sorry man...You just do not follow the system. 10months and still that shit at sales?? I would have asked you to leave for your own good man. You just don't have what it takes to do either sales or being a leader. Promise me you never ever look for a job in sales because it is NOT for YOU!!!! Sorry bro!
Thats ok. I realized that a long time ago. Not just anyone can be successful at this type of job. Is that guy at 1.41 stoned? His eyes are red. (The guy on the right hand side)
Saw through it in 2 days. It's a scam, you'll all be better off with a real job.
When the interviewer is trying to convince you to take the job (even begging one guy who walked out whilst waiting to be interviewed), you now it is not an 'opportunity' worth taking.
You may wear a suit and bang on in business speak about bullshit, but you are still salesmen. Who other people in their homes. You should look up to, and aspire to be supermarket workers.
Another person who wants to make it to director without working for it.... You gotta earn where you are mate! Go the hard yards to be successfull. It doesn't all fall into our lap like for some others. Scam....? Maybe... That scam too kme where I am now though. Appriciate your input but again, don't judge on what you don't know. And clearly, 2 days doesn't tell you what it is all about. (no dis respect!!)
I want to work to be successful, but what part of the job prepares you for leadership/management? Promotion at cobra is given quickly and easily. I don't know any company where the current owner was forking as a salesman 12 months previously.
That scam harms the people who were mis-sold products and it harms those who work for the company. Even the owners are selling themselves way short, lining cobra's pockets whilst they hope to one day pay off their credit cards.
I think it works slightly different in UK then here in New Zealand then. Promotion is not given easy. It took me just over 2 years to build a solid team of 19 guys before I was promoted to only Assistant Ownership.
I respect your opinion though. UK mentallity is slightly more ruthless. You cant have that mentallity to be successfull in Cobra. Your team promotes you, not yourself.
I run my own business now, outside Cobra. Left couple years ago.
Congratulations that it worked out for you. Sometimes people just dont want to buy anything. How did you fair during the recession? I hated it and i could see it was a pyramid scheme. So i left after 2 days. But im glad it worked out for you.
I left couple of years ago. I'm not saying I would do it again, Im not saying everyone should do it. It gave me the stepping stone to create an attitude I couldn't be thought anywhere else. It is and will always be a sort of pyramid scheme and like you said for some it works for some it don't I just getting pissed of wth ppl like SMI0511459 because they judge before they give it a good crack.
oh and you can get a proper job and a life as well. how do you know I work 9-5? mr negative? hahaha you are a joke! give me five! not. do we believe in the law of avergaes? hell yeah! not. lets slap our arses together! not. you guys have a stupid routine doing these every morning. prick!
Er mate do you know what job I have? no! and I am not at uni. I soon will be cabin crew and get to travel the world and can you call that sad? no. People in cobra get lied to, get scammed, get overworked, get forced into using personal assets for business purposes, get shitted on. you really are a sad sad person and was there any need for a homophobic comment? you are a double twat! I worked for eclipse and endeva advertising in nottingham and it was a waste of time!
So you will be a slave on a ship while I still got my own business. (Not at Cobra). And travelling the world I already did so no need. You got a lot to learn about life my friend. Thats ok, they will teach you on the cruise ship. Hang on to the soap.
oh and chris rudge and david wyatt are a pair of twatsso I assume you with no social life see people like these scumbags everyday. Oh and I hadnt heard of cobra until I got involved for 1 week and then I left the company because it is a WASTE of time. So dont recommend me going there! muppet!
HAHAHA!! Lasted a WEEK!! And you are going to last on a CRUISESHIP???!!!! OMG you must be joking!! 12 hours on, 12hours off. On a cruise ship there are usually 5 to 8 bars specially for staff as you cannot hit on birds that are cruising. You will be a slave on a boat. Please leave a comment on how you liked it. I probably hear from you after a week, since you wont last much longer.
The main reason I left cobra was because they tried making me use my car to ferry other field reps around to the fields. I was also offered a paid wage job soon after.
Mate, ANY job would suck after 1 week. They used and abused you. Doesn't happen at all offices for Cobra. Just what you make of it. I still think that even after the glamour has gone of it, cabin crew ain't where you want to be either! I left Cobra 3 years ago but gained all experience from it to start my own business. If I didn't do Cobra I would still give up every opportunity at the first hurdle. Hope you get what you want in life.
