The number of times I broke an Intel CPU heatsink...I just can't get the bloody thing to open properly. AMD seems to have this figured out, understandable heatsink for goodness sake.
Why don't Intel change these stoop-id heat sinks they send with they're cpu's..Surely it wouldn't cost much for them to send a half decent one or even develop a new and better stock H.S.!!!!.
@TheAMDkid You're a fool if that's what you believe. And I have before just by working on a motherboard on thin carpet with the computer on my lap even. It's not always damage you can notice either, but can kill your parts quicker over time. The professionals don't make these statements up. They warn everyone for a reason and I think they know what's best. I tell you what, I sure as hell am not going to risk damaging my $300+ equipment. Ground yourself often and your equipment will be happy.
@TheAMDkid Static is not a myth, It's just not instantly recogniseable. Moving your leg can generate in excess of 600 volts, attach yourself to a multimeter and have a look at the results as you walk.
Stock coolers have always been shit. At least they are getting much better on graphics cards but on cpu's they're still shit =) They are noisy as all hell and they can barely keep the cpu within limits at full load. Horrible.
@frohman3 Well im using a 939 cooler on a socket AM3 with no problem and its one that does not need changing of the mounts the cooler just clips on its a Xigmatek cooler
Nowadays The AMD coolers are better-sized. Intel stocks suck, F.E they let an Core i7 920 un Stock-Clock run up to 88-92°!! and with full speed they are loud, and they must spin at full speed, to cool the CPU that "bad"
Also you say that the fan is smaller. U mean the blades of the fan. BUT: the AMD has much more Blades on the Fan. Wich means it will flow more air at the same RPM
Ok. the Intel is cooliong the CPU on 32 ° on IDLE. BUT: the fan spins at 100% at every time! Because its only a 3 pin fan. The AMD cools well, even on 30% Fan-speed my Phenom II 925 is running on 35.39°!
Interesting. I'm running right now a Athlon 64 X2, 3800+, stock AM2 heatsink (no stock fan, it broke), Tuniq TX-2 thermal compound... with a stock fan from a intel E5200 going 1600rpm. Idle temperature? 49 °C (120 °F). AMD is shit!
AMDs and intels stock coolers both suck they are only good for stock clock speeds. If your case does not have good air flow or you live in a hot climate than you can over heat the CPU if its under a heavy load.
i know a lot more than you think. sure im basing it all on poersonal experience because all the AMD CPUs ive used are all garbage. ive used an AMD athlon 64, AMD sempron, AMD turion x2 dual core and an AMD athlon dual core. none of them come close to the performance of my intel core 2 duo. my moms celeron performs just as good as my brother's turion dual core and hers is only single core!
AMD offer alot better value for money. sure AMD's best cant beat intels best, but they are very cheap meaning people cant ignore the price/ performance ratio
ok amds best is beaten but the intel core i5 750 and the i7 860....amd is good if ur on a budget...but yet if u want future proof dont build on a budget...
bullshit. AMD's run a hell a lot hotter than Intel's. My AMD heats up within 10 minutes. my brothers AMD gives off a lot of heat (which actually feels good in the winter; warms up my hands) Intels utilize the 65nw where as the AMD's Don't.
not from my experiences. every AMD has gotten hot. my brothers fan never goes off and is always blowin out hot air. his stock cooler couldnt do enough to keep it cool and his computer kept shuttin off on him. he had to send it in for a repair to get a more powerful heatsink and fan just so he can use his computer. my comps has the stock fan and it rarely runs b/c the computer doesnt get that hot.
umm why dont you go learn about PCs. i know more than you about PCs you retard. processors run on different technology. AMDs suck. they get hot. like my brothers AMD. intel FTW. stupid AMD fanboys. go learn about computers then post something. intel out performs AMD in every area.
I think you're the one who needs to learn about computers. I've built quite a few computers, so has my dad, so have a few of my friends, and all of them (Intel and AMD fans alike) say that AMD processors are bulletproof and perform like hell for the money. A few friends bought Celerons and Pentium Ds, and soon after asked me to put more RAM in their systems, then just gave up and gave me their computers altogether because their Intel procs kept crashing and couldn't keep up.
amd sucks, the am3 cooler when is over heat it breack never i got this problem whit the intel coolers in 478 or 775 and now with the new one.
