  • Right on!

  • Love this sermon. I can listen to this sermon over and over again.

  • Meat and the gravy!!!! Ain't nun like it..

  • I have the audio of the whole sermon. This cuts off the beginning and the end. I guess you have your reasons for doing it but BOY YOU WAS WRONG FOR THAT!

  • Rev Smith was my home pastor in Buffalo, He was a great man of God. He left a great legacy for all of us. This was the best sermon I ever heard in my life.

  • Great man! Now that I am older I can truly appreciate Reverend Dr. B.W.Smith, as he had a plethora of knowledge. Not only was he a great Pastor he was also a great man, a true aspiration for many of us. I had many lessons learned at SJBC growing up as a youth, that I'm just now overstanding as I am older and dare I say a bit wiser. God bless your soul Reverend Smith...and thank you!

  • Thank you and God bless the hand that placed this powerful sermon here. We need these words for God to remain us where we came from.

  • I love this sermon, it applies to church, work, and life and that's what makes it great. Thank you for sharing.

  • I have shouted and cried off this sermon all my life from Albums to CD'S.

  • This Is what you call Expostitory Whooping

  • The author uses several words that only John the apostle used in the Gospel of John and in the Epistles. He calls Jesus Christ the "Logos" which means the "Word." "The Word" is used 9 times in the Gospel of John and 4 times in John's Epistles. He also calls Jesus Christ "the Lamb of God." He uses the word "true" (alethinos) 10 times in Revelation. John is the only person to use the word "tabernacle" (skenoo). He uses it 4 times in Revelation and once in the Gospel.

  • He won the sermon of the year award for this. I was there with him on stage at the Apollo in NYC the night he got the award.

  • Wow this is a classic message delievered by a great man of God. Preachers who are just begining can learn from his presences in the pulpit

    u preaching

  • what church is that? that he is preaching at?

  • St. John Baptist in Buffalo I believe....my grandad's sister was a member there before she moved back south to NC.

  • This looks to be Allen Temple Church in Oakland, CA. Dr. J. Alfred Smith, Pastor

  • Oh man!!!! This is real old school Baptist preaching!!! I grew up on this stuff!! New school preachers don't have it because they are too busy trying to sound like Pastor Creflo Dollar, Dr. Price, Kenneth Copeland, or Joyce Meyer hoping to gain their type of status. Bishop Paul Morton is the only one to be able to blend both schools! Locally, Rev. Andre Cook has got it down pat!!!! Absolutely the best!!!!

  • what church did Rev. B.W. Smith pastored i like this video

  • Thanks so very much for posting this! I remember this sermon from my childhood! I really need to hear this! Somethings let you remember where you came from.

  • preach preacher

  • I remember this sermon from a long time ago. I had the tape as well. The tape I had was different from this one but still the same story lines. I use to know his sermon word for word and back to front. I have been looking for the sermon ever since then and have not been able to find til now. Thanks for this post, and God bless.

  • Man you cut this too long.

  • You are welcome to post a version more to your satisfaction.

  • @town528 I thought you did a great job posting this sermon. May God Continue to Bless and Keep You my Brother!!

  • Joy has filled my heart tonight in seeing this classic sermon and its popularity on YouTube. This video brings vivid memories of sermons and experiences to mind that I witnessed with "Reverend"- he truely is an instrument of God. I am moved to send a thank you to Town528 for sharing this- and igotahomeinthesky for the brief biography. If you knew B.W., you know that he truely is one of a kind. "Ive got my ticket" -B.W.

  • This late preacher from buffalo is known around the world for his great preaching. He was a great civil rights leader and worked with the like of martin luther king, mandella and many others. most preachers wish they could deliver the word like this. he was truly blessed as a preacher and is greatly admired by his peers. and yes he was an educated man attending seminary school, was a former teacher, councilman and president of the progressive national baptist convention.

  • yea alright now u betta preach

  • He sings Precious Lord at the end of this sermon, could you post part 4,please? Thank you

  • I posted my comment on this last nite and I saw it when I first came on the site today, but I don't see it anymore. How does this work?

  • You've got to get the end of it on here. Part 4...we gotta' hear him say "Let the winds blow and breakers dash"!!!

  • I love this sermon and have listened to it over and over again.

  • I was Baptised by this man. A great preacher and a great man. I grew up to this type of delivery. The word has not changed just the minds of men.

  • I LOVE THIS

  • THANK YOU JESUS

  • thank you for these old tapes!

  • what year was this?

  • 1993

  • old school right there.preach doc

  • I know that's right! There is nothing like old school. These new day preachers just don't have it!

  • say it doc

  • Its sad that this kind of preaching is mocked in this new millenium. It seems to me that those preachers of yesteryear proclaimed with such a great depth that it makes our contemporary preaching seem shallow.

  • yeah doc this guy is preaching. This is when preacher's used to spend weeks at a time writing a sermon!

  • John apparently the only apostle to survive to old age.He was about 100 and died of natural causes.I have no more comments. God bless you my brother.

  • You are wrong brother. You have no proof that he was 100 when he died. Where are you getting this information from? There is no scholarly proof of this. Please do not make up stuff and mislead people.

  • cdesha1118 I am wondering about your Christianity. You posted another negative comment in regards to Rev. Jasper Williams, and the negative comments takes away from the message that is coming forth. As my parents and grand parents would say if you have nothing nice to say, please refrain from speaking or commenting. Thank you.

  • Really we can not really say what is true or false. But you cant be for sure that a 100 year old man wrote 2 biblical texts when most new testament scholars do not believe this. Have you ever taken a class on this before?

  • Brother im not going to call you out of your name because it not christ like. But the apostle John wrote the book of Revelation.

  • How do you know he died of natural causes lol? You dont know this! Where are you getting your information from? Are you formally educated? I can tell that you are not!

  • bishop cawthorne...obviously you will notice that the gospel of john is written in excellent greek and revelations is written in poor greek. ALso...revelations was written many years after that. So many of you so called preachers are uneducated. Learn your facts.

  • the johns are the same the only difference theologian is that the time he wrote the gospel he wrote as he saw it, now the difference is that revelation was written while he was in the spirit . The Holy Ghost has no place in modern education, but it does make the man a cut above.

  • This Preacher theology is correct.John the brother of James and an apostle wrote the gospel john about 90 A.D. and wrote Revelation on Patmos about 96 A.D.

  • U dummy...Jesus died around 30 AD...So are you telling me 60 years later, the same GUY WROTE THIS TEXT? Your an idiot...The guy who wrote this text wrote it in greek...NOT IN ARAMAIC...let it be known that this is correct...

  • If Jesus was around 33 when he died, then that would make James maybe around the same age or even younger maybe older. Your saying a 93 year old man wrote Revelations in bad greek and then wrote the gospel of John in PERFECT GREEK? WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!

  • If you took the Introduction to New Testament, you would know that the Gospel of John is written in flawless greek and Revelations is written in poor greek meaning that the authors ARE INDEED DIFFERENT! John of Patmos writes so bad that it seems that Greek is not his first language!

  • hey man thebible was translated into Greek, The disciples message waswritten in broken Hebrew arabic thus these men are ignorant and unlearned. The thing that has you confused is that you are relying on what you have learned with your finite ming and failed to see there is thing called a relevated word

  • Please note that Revelations is written in poor Greek and The Gospel of John is written in excellent greek. One author would not write two different texts with good writing and the other in bad writing. Please get educated before you start talking.

  • Im sorry...John the beloved disciple who wrote or is credited with writing the gospel of John is NOT John of Patmos who wrote Revelation. Revelation was written in Greek...and The disciples all spoke aramaic...

  • I hate when preachers preach the wrong thing. This is what happens when u have uneducated preachers in the pulpit.

  • Wow...this guy is good but he is saying that John the disciple and John of Patmos who wrote Revelations. Now this is wrong theology. John of Patmos came 60 years after the death of Jesus! Revelations was written around 90 AD! Jesus died 30 AD!

  • you have a negative spirit that takes away from the anointing of the message sweetly did u hear any thing that dis man just preached you are a mad dog that find every little thing to pick at

you really do need to ask god to help you with that negativity spirit or u gonna miss your blessing from whats going forth which is the word of god im pray for you and may god bless you cdesha1118

  • Dont get it twisted keainie! BW SMITH was a beast and this sermon is classic! Almost as good as Leo Daniels what in hell do u want and CL FRANKLIN "eagle stirs his nest." Just clearing up some theology about john of patmos. But the sermon is great!
