Functionally, yes. Touch screen built in and all the internal Open Labs software wouldn't be available of course, but you can still do a lot with a laptop and midi-controller.

@bjornhelge97 no midi controller gives you a touch screen control and monitoring over ableton live. It looks a little cleaner on stage to have everything in one board. I run a master controller to 2 mac pro's inside of a 32 space ATA unit with LCD's mounted on my rack, but it's not practical for most people.
