Thanks for the for the spelling correction! English is not my main language :S.
The SD are noisier than the gibsons, but i haven't noticed any feedback problems with them, just the nice loud volume sustained notes "ala Gary Moore" stuff, but nothing strange at all.
Very nice sounds man...Question: Since the SD antiquities aren't wax potted are they prone to microphonic feedback when playing at louder volume with overdrive?
Wow, that was great playing, way better then I ever could do, and I really like the tone of the antiquities more then the BBs. (p.s, u spelt humbucker as hambucker in the description :D)
Great video! I'm trying to decide between Antiquities and Burstbuckers for my next guitar. Now I'm leaning toward Burstbucker neck and Antiquity bridge. Thanks for posting.
PS Your guitar playing needs no apologies. Nice touch.
Are you sure these are the Gibson Burstbucker Pro? Gibson never numbered the Pro's, only the Burstbuckers 1, 2 & 3. The Pro's were IM59A neck and IM59B for the bridge.
I think that the SD sound sweet and overall, until you play the Neck PU with the KOT, it begins to sound a little brittle. The Burstbucker sounds real nice with the KOT. If I was playing clean...I would choose the SD's. If I was playing with a OD or Fuzz box, Iike the Burstbuckers. IMO
Duncan Antiquities are, imo, the best PAF clones on the market. It boggles my mind why people pay $300+ for boutique PAF pickups with these around and available for a fair price.
Great video! Both pickups sound great but the favored tone in the ear of the player and to me the antiquities seem to have a sparkle while the burstbuckers have a more plain sound to them. What type of wiring does you Les Paul have?
Both sets sound good man, and nice playing. I think I prefer the Antiquity pups. There's some extra sweetness to them. Thanks for the demo, I'm sure you had a bunch of time wrapped up in this.
the burstbucker pros only sound good when they come stock. I dropped a set in my LP Trad 08 and a 04' Sg standard and they were terrible in both guitars. I've never heard them sound better with your rig. I still prefer the ants. they are bit warmer due to the alnico 2 mags. I can't get into alnico 5's. To piercing for me. Rock on.
i like the antiquites better they are both well made but i think the burst buckers dont let enoughe "shine, Higher end, sparcle" thrue on the cleen as well as the gained, they are ruffer than the antiquitys and i dont think as much thought has been put in to them as much. or maybe they where modeld after a slightly more beet up tortured original pickup, just my opinion, dont hate...
@dvdkinman Hi.This is a great clip.To my old and battered ears the two sets sound similar but the SDs do have a slightly more rounded/smooth quality, particularly the bridge.
Great job on this! To me the Gibson's have a bit more bite and thinner, Duncans are more mellow and warmer. I've BB pro in a LP faded and they seem a bit too thin live but tone controls can fix it ok. Alas, grass always appears greener elsewhere, but I'm getting too slack to fly in and change these guys around like I used to do..

I think there is a clear winner for me, Antiquitys!
Mr SD Makes some special Pups... and more time and effoert has been spent to create the antiquitys...

@Juda0326 The BB 1,2&3 are Alnico 2.The Pros are AlnicoV(5) as shown on the back in this clip.My 2004 Standard has the Pros with the same labelling.

Thanks for the comparison demo. Not too many people do it in a way you
can appreciate quite as quickly. Obviously, it is a close comparison, and
totally the player's taste since both are really great. I have both in several of
my guitars. For me, the Gibson's have a higher fidelity sound, and less
cross-modulation, but others may prefer the Antiquities especially if they are
not concerned as much about being able to play clean and dirty on the same
guitar. Thanks!

my opinion is totaly opposite of that, burstbucker seems to have more high end and clarity than the seymour but not a huge difference.

what is the song title at the end of the video?
edwinpangestu 8 months ago
@edwinpangestu
The song is "Life song (One for Annie) Robben Ford & The Blue line.
For the Robben Ford sound (in this song), Antiquities are better.
Burstbucker are much better for Joe Bonamassa type of sound.
Make your choice : )

Great comparasion clip! My vote still goes for Gibson pups - have fuller sound, opposite to cleaner, brighter but thinner SD pups.
Keep rockin'
