  • nice

  • 1:35, God, I was wrong

  • This car is great, but sorry, the engine sound like a sewing machine

  • very nice car i like ford thunderbird

  • back in 55 we aere making thunderbirds

  • It sure sounds like the 292's sounded. You can hear every valve lifter. Get some oil up there!

  • I'm a GM guy, but I think these are some of the most beautiful cars out there. Ford did great with these cars, that is until they couldn't decide whether it was a sports, muscle or luxury car. I like the wrap-around back seats on the 2nd generation T-Birds. Cool car.

  • do you have the supercharger for it?

  • What is the vehicle's top speed?

  • Clocked for 150 mph

  • What is the vehicles top speed?

  • @chuckmanofgod i don't know what that vechiles top speed was but like complete nut i was I took a 58 fod 312 to 115 mph on the southfeild fwy.[m39] in dearborn Mi.. might have done more but had to slow for traffic. oh yeah an Alle Park Mi. cop pulled me over. this is TRUE STORY. HE CAUGHT ME CAUSE I HAD TO REDUCE MY SPEED I THOUGHT THIS WAS FUNNY HE SAID TO ME i HEARD YOU BEFORE i SAW YOU . CAR STRAIGHT EXUST NO MUFFLER. COOL COP THE HE ASKE WHATS UNDER I SAID 312 STOCK. MADE ME LIFT HOOD.CONT.

  • my dad has the same engine but diff color and roof. also the timing is off. he may have to rebuilt the engine again. but overall i love this car.

  • Sounds like a y block. Love it!!!!!!

  • Great car in great condition , always loved these cars

  • The last of the Y-blocks were discontinued at the end of 1976, those being the 360 and 390-cube V8s used in Ford's light-duty full-size trucks (medium-duty equivalents were the 361 and 391, as well as the more powerful 389XD). For 1977 they were replaced by truck-specification versions of the 351W and 400 small blocks respectively, and they even had better horsepower than their predecessors.

  • these motors although of yblock design were FE engines

  • Comment removed

  • @ctitchley3819 They were two different families of engines. FE's were big blocks CID displacements were 332,352,361,360,390,406,410,427 and 428. Y Blocks are small blocks, predessor to the FE.

  • Nope! The Y blocks were phased out in 1965. They were used in trucks up until then. A Y block has the distributor in the back. That's why "55 to "59 Ford car hoods were hinged at the front.

  • @ClassicTVMan81.... Why are you calling a 360,361,390 and 391 a Y block? Just because the piston angles make the front of the block look like a Y, does'nt mean it's a Y block... It's an FE, totally different family...

  • Till i can afford that 55 Ford. Great car . Love this cars.

  • Amazing car.

  • Love the sound of engine (minus the lifter clatter).

  • Y-Blocks are suposed to have some lifter noise, although this one has a little more than it should.

  • She's a Bute you lucky sum bitch

  • they are solid lift ya know

  • Comment removed

  • Mechanical Lifters or SOlid Lifters make noise cause its metal on metal contact they make a clicking or a tipping sound all Y blocks or mechanical lifter blocks do that. Hydraulic lifters shouldnt make that noise unless you had a collapsed lifter.

  • well most likely needs a valve adjustment

  • This 292 in this Tbird does NOT need a valve adjustment it is a solid lifter camshaft it has a clicking sound you wont get rid of it.

  • nice man :]

  • nice car....my friends dad drag races one just like this. its has a fuel injected 302 chevy small block that does 10 seconds at 130mph in the quarter mile.

  • Nice bird! It sounds great, what mufflers do you have on it? I'm building my first Y now, it's going into my '60 F-100.

  • I had a 60 F-100 back around 1977. It was a clean rust free from California, and I sold it for 300 bucks. I've kicked myself ever since. It had a 352 with a 4speed close ratio in front of a 3speed wide ratio. Both toploaders.

    Are you building a 292? 312?

The bird just has stock mufflers for now, but she'll be gettin' glasspacks.

    Thanks and Regards

  • Ahh, too bad you let it go, I love these trucks. It's my first car, in fact. I'm building a 292, and it's getting Cherry Bombs. :)

  • Check out summit they have the old 50`s Smithy`s mufflers they were very big in the 50`s and supposedly sounded great. Im going to install those in my 1956 292 Fairlane unless i keep the stock mufflers
