I don't know where this was, but I've fished in Germany for 14 years. Listen to the man. The rules in Germany are very strict about whatever, wherever to fish. You must buy a permit to fish for the day at a certain area, sometimes days or months in advance. Strict limits and no live bait that has a spine. PETA and the Greens rule Fishing in Germany.

I used to go to the Schlossee by Hanau and rent a boat and fish for trout, Germany walleye called Zander and perch, trout and Schlie.Great times.

Normally in Germany most ponds are stock and rivers and creeks are not but it depends on the owner!!! Also, normally in Germany the rules are that if you catch a fish of limit size you must take it!!! The brookies that I have caught here in Germany usually put up a strong fight so it depends on using two hands or not! The brookies are well known in Germany and we do have rainbow and brown too!
