  • you might want to change you lock bearings

  • it a catapult.

  • I haven't gotten around to looking at it yet. I hope to soon though.

  • I have the same problem with my 97 thunderbird, it sometimes works if i hold the lock button down and hear a grinding noise then about five minutes of holing down the button it locks. so i think it's easier if i just push the lock down. i have no idea whats wrong with it. but not that much of a problem since i dont have remote keyless entry.

  • so easy...

remove the door panels and u´ll see what´s wrong.i think the actuators are fucked or the connection from the actuators with the lock door.

just remove the door panels and u´ll see what´s wrong

  • Dunno, probably a bad moter... as a mater of fact, the same door in my Lincoln doesn't work at all!

  • Your driver door? I was thinking a motor too. Thanks for the help.

  • Na, the passenger front :)

  • oh. okay.

  • Yeah. I think it's the actulators. Thanks for the help!

  • Mine did that too when the battery was almost dead.

  • This video is more helpful. We had one doing this on our 07 freestar and it turns out to be the door actuators. Hope this helps!

  • Thanks! Someone else thought that too.

    I will look into that.

  • Do you use those doors often? Sometimes wires reaching into the doors start to break over time as the doors open and close. I don't know why the locks are trying to work but cannot, but I assume it's from the high resistance of cracked wires. They are stranded and should last, but sometimes when you no longer have working power windows, broken wires or bad motors are the cause.

  • Could be cracked wires. I will check that out too.

  • hmm maybe they're frozen?

  • I thought that but this problem started in the summer.

  • I had that very same problem with my Driver Front and Passenger rear door. all the others worked except for them 2. Idk Y but i got over it. Its actually a good thing, You never know it may lock for a random reason and urs wont lock.

  • Thta is true. If you want, you should post more vids. of your sable.

  • i have the same prob

just learned to live w it

  • I think I may have to live with it too.

  • i have a prob w my door ajar sensors

  • I should have put it here, but i sent the most possible solution in your "pm" section.

  • I will have to look at the actualator too.

  • oh ok well couldve gotten stuck still from age not sure cause i aint there to look it over

  • That's probably it.

  • ok seen your video and from what i can see the problem is with the rod inside the door thats connected to the lock knob it could be frozen from the cold or stuck id suggest if you know how to remove the door panel and pull on the rod and see if it comes free seeing the snow i believe it froze from the cold lock button seems to work fine so i believe its the rod which is a metal rod btw common ford problem might be an easy fix

  • Thnaks for the tip. But this started happening before the weather got cold.

  • Thats weird, my dads 1999 Ford Explorer has a problem sorta similar, where the the the lock switched on the remotes and on the front doors dont lock the doors(but do unlock), but there is a button in the trunk that locks and unlocks the doors, and seems to be the only one that locks the doors.

  • Thanks! I hate this problem because if you are running out in the rain, you can't open it with the remote so you have to unlock it manually with the key.
