@Xarieus word. it's sad but giving them money and food doesn't do anything to solve the actual problems. Hunger and poverty are symptoms of the problems over there. They are not the biggest problems.

@Xarieus As a long time solution, sending money over there is not a solution but a big mistake, I agree. But if there is (and at the moment there IS) a hunger catastrophe and thousands of people are dying because of hunger, as a temporary help, sending food and money is not the worst thing to do.

Also, it's very hard for the african countrys to support themselves, as their agriculture is often ruined and western governments even support "bad" agriculture.
