The closer we stand to one another, the more we're able to realize that all of our separate individual struggles, in fact belong to one singular struggle.
The part of America that I am most proud of, is the part that shows this to be true. It is the part that reveals to us the emerging face of a nationless world. - Jie-Song Zhang
Awesome project. I love how the portrait photographer from France talks about portraits and what you are making is a portrait... I can't wait to see the whole thing too- hope more women are in there ;).
This is a thing that will surface and rise because of those that believe and, simply, because the time is ripe for an erasing of borders, a unification of humanity.
I don't see a Nationless world for a long time, and I doubt there will ever be one. People around the world don't think the same. Sure, we all have dreams and ambitions, but some people think they attain these by dominating others. Regulating other people into compliance. I'm a United States Constitutionalist and Libertarian, and I'm for as little government control as is workable. I have socialist associates who would see that the opposite happens. There is a reason we have States. Differences.
Well-filmed, this video has a great and ambitious message. However, this world is not ready for a homogeneous mix of people, not even New York City. But it'll happen, for sure.
Jie-Song - you've made me homesick for New York! You've picked some really talented, creative representatives of New York to point a way to future, to remind us that embracing our hybridity leads to new possibilities for future humanity and actually gives to us our own sense of rootedness.. One thing I'd like to add to the mix is that for even us nomads, it still takes a certain personal optimism and a lot of hard work and humility to embody this emerging "nationless-ness."
