I believing he was refering to the movement from that time at 67-76. Movies and acting were becoming even more naturalistic. And Paul Newman had a major impact for that paticular movement.

@Tigerlily21 Yes, Crowe knows what he is talking about because he was talking about the movement in Hollywood that Newman and McQueen was so involved in. Prior to about 1967 Newman was just part of the machine which is what gave him the power in the coming years to do the things that he did.

Paul Newman did everything in such a dignified way without holding a press conference everytime he donated to charity. These actors of today could take a lesson from Paul Newman. What a class act.
