this is the Queen of Hearts. There is no white queen or red queen in this version. You're getting it confused with the 1985 version, Alice in Wonderland Through The Looking Glass.

But I have heard of the Queen of Hearts refered to as the RED Queen.

This is the best version yet. And no doubt Johnny Depp is my favorite actor out there, but I think Martin Short looks better as the Mad Hatter, especially with the enlarged head. He looks spot-on exactly like the original illustrations.

This isn't the White Queen. This is the Queen of Hearts, played by Miranda Richardson, who has played several queens. The Red and White Queens do not appear until Through the Looking -Glass. I have mixed feelings about the Hallmark version of Alice in Wonderland, but I really enjoyed watching the Queen of Hearts and Mad Hatter.

I've read the book about three times it never specifies the color of her dress, and the artwork in the book is black and white, so that's not a very reliable source either...

That's because she doesn't. In the book, she just starts growing out of the blue during the trial - if we need to rationalize it, it may be an after effect of the growing or shrinking things she ate.

In this version, they make her eat it because of all this "Alice goes to Wonderland because she's scared of singing in public" nonsense. What a terrible, terrible addition.

OK version though.
