hey orangeblood - it is a bad call because those types of 'push offs' happen on nearly every play and aren't called. I bet the ref did a fist bump after calling it just like in the colorado game a few years ago.

Is someone actually suggesting that the receiver didn't push off Brown? Best case, it's offsetting, but the seperation created by Gordon by pushing off is why he caught the ball. He approached like he was blocking, and Brown stepped up to meet the block while watching the play unfold which is when he realized it was a pass, but at that point, Gordon had created the separation he needed.

It was a solid if controversial call. If you can watch that and say it's a poor call, you don't know FB

You say the receiver pushed off after the line of scrimmage, but if I remember the rules of football correctly contact by either player is legal within 5 yards. Bad call says a fan with no interest in either of these 2 teams. No call would have been more appropriate unless the ball was in the air at the time of contact.

The PI call was a typical situation. DBs and WRs meet like that all the time. Both players used their hands. Charles used a swim move and got open, like he often did(and many WRs across the country). It also happened well before the ball was in the air. This call is never made, especially at such a vital time in the game.

Oh, and a KU defender was blatantly held on the 4th & 18 play.

actually is was about 12-15 yards down field. And anyone who isnt a biased observer can obviously tell that the reciever had planned that out from the get go. He ran directly at the DB extended his arms and plus the ball had been thrown before the reciever was even open which tells me that the QB knew he would push off to get open.

sure you can run at the DB but you cant extend your arms and push off. Just watch the upper body motion of the DB and look at his shoulders rock back and the change in his momentum that doesnt match his initial movement. That alone is evidence that he was shoved. It was a calculated risk that the WR took, it honestly happens alot. But sometimes you get caught. It's just like holding, linemen do it all the time, sometimes they get away with it, sometimes they get flagged.
