I can't slide my fingers to the third position!!! When I slide my fingers to the third position, the bow jumping and the notes bumping too. I wonder what wrong, is me holding the the violin the wrong way or what?

@shayne2604 oh, i've been playing the violin for 7 yrs now and not trying to brag but im almost at a professional level so i have experience. i suggest buying one according to ur hand size. if u have small hands, (and since ur on the smaller side) get a 3/4 size violin. its hard to find a good quality one but since ur a beginner, i recommend yamaha. they're convienent to play and not so expensive. hope this helps :)

Hi my wife bought a new violin for my son and it aint making no noise ( the strings are tightened like they are supposed to ) and i was wondering does the bow have to be warned in so it can make any noise ?

@thelincolns simply apply rosin on you violin bow and it should produce a sound. please watch my "Dear Angel" video for further info about your question.

thank you. you are a great teacher. Probably better than a qualified teacher because you are thorough. Can you do a video explaining about how to tighten bow strings (when to know it's too tight, etc). I think this is why my bow bounces on my strings. I'm just a beginner and this is my most frustrating problem.

the more of these i watch the more i wanna try it and get good but i know just like when i started piano and guitar it probibly wont be a walk in the park to learn. there seems to be so many little things to remember. im sure when i try my first bowing strokes, im gonna sound like a !$%&£$& as well!

my arm cant do a full stroke on the strings with the bow

i cant reach

i dont know if its because my arms are short or if my violin is too big

if that's the case, you may need a smaller violin and a shorter bowstick. if you go into a violin/orchestral shop, they should be able to measure what size bow and violin you should be using, because there are different sizes.

Angel, you're such a good violin instructor, I took violin for a year 6 years ago, I gave it all back to my teacher. :) It's good to start all over again to watch your video, I will dig out my violin (full of dust) and start all over again. Thanks for posting these tutorials! I just got a violin this morning and hit a snag on bowing. I can't produce any sort of sound as of yet, but I'm sure that after viewing this once more, I might get the hang of it. You're very easy to learn from. Much better than the instructional DVD my parents got for me. :)

This is really cool. I like how you explain. There's another bowing technique where you use the wood side of the bow to hit on the strings. I'm not sure what it's called though.

You're very enjoyable to watch and listen to; good job on these videos. You're demeanor makes learning these basics fun and easy going. Thanks for doing these. My one criticism would be the background music...although very pretty and enjoyable, it overpowered what you were saying at times and actually was a little annoying after a time...maybe just have it very, very soft in the background?? Just a thought. Very nicely done though.
