  • The man pictured is the great US singer Fabian who made famous pop songs

  • absolutely brilliant like everything these guys ever played. Django, whew. what a talent. A classicalal guitarist of the day asked if he could have the music printed of the songs Django was playing. Imagine how shocked he was to discover that Django just 'made it up as he went along'. :-)

  • @andy04134 That was Andres Segovia. Andres had very little time for any except fully trained classical players.

Andres asked Django to play at a recital..Reinhardt played for 4 hrs solid solo..pure Spanish guitar.

Andres asked him for the sheet music..Django laughed & told him "I don't read music" .

    All by ear & improvised.

  • @taildragger53 Great story :)

  • One of my all time favs and the first tune I heard him play. Perfect.

  • Wunderbar wie er diese sehr grade und schlichte Lied gegen den Strich swingen lässt, statt seiner Linie zu folgen.

  • It's a testament to Django's genius that he could make this swing....wonderful soloing, every chorus another melody....

  • When Al de Meola/ Paco de Lucia go atonal in their guitar duets it seems modern and riske. Django's two wonderful, tasteful solo's here flirt with the melody but keep their distance. The second wildy atonal ( in 1938 ! ) and all in such an everyday song. Stephane takes the safer path to give perfect balance.

  • Yes, that's Grappelli.

  • Is this with Stephan Grappelli?

  • this is the song that made me fall in love with django's music. thank you.
