Great Simon, I have been hoping for you to do another video of the boxes. I am definately having a go to make some. The camera angle was really nice too. Thanks! Julia
I remember that song, from The Sultans of Swing album - sung rather contemptuously too, I think :) I was reading a book by an American potter where he made these in one closed piece, then cutting a galley into the side with a rounded stick and eventually cutting off the top. Haven't had much luck with that method - I'll try your's tonight!!
That's it! I am making time for the studio tonight!
(haven't been in there for WAY too long - too much time taken up by going to university)
I love the way you are OK with the lid having a slight wobble, giving it the freedom to express itself, without forcing it into "perfect" balance, as it were.
I'm beginning to think that I throw with clay that is much softer than what you use or perhaps I make the walls too thin to handle being lifted like that. They tend to bend out of shape when I try it. Great video! Thanks for sharing.
Hello Simon,
I've watched the jewellery box videos a few times and have gleaned the base is 300 g and the lid is 250 g.
What are the dimensions? Of the base? and the lid?
Thank you.
Regards,
Sheril

I really like this camera angle because I get to see the close up things you do with your fingers and hand motions.

Hi Simon, excellent demonstration, thanks!
I am always amazed how you are able to keep your upper body so still, whilst kicking the wheel. Looking forward to seeing the fitting stage too.

Hi Simon,
I loved the sounds of the wheel. It was like sitting at the wheel myself!
