He bet on the reds to win...obviously he needed to be punished, but he didn't deserve a lifetime ban. That's a far cry from throwing the world series. Giamatti had it in for him...as a red sox fan his whole life, he probably hated rose anyway. Why else would he have given him a 30 day suspension for pushing an umpire while he was the NL president. Alomar got 3 days for spitting on one - and didn't have to serve them till next year. Everyone else in the world has been given a second chance.

The BIGGEST shame is that the Baseball Commission is actually, ACTUALLY saying that Gambling on a Sport is WORSE than Using Drugs!?!? Performance enhancing drugs, than make mediocre players better than average, and Better than average, Great?
