@urkelette Same principle in history. Both minority groups in the west, and both discriminated against. Members of both groups have been murdered for it. Both had laws that restricted their freedoms and socially have been considered lower. No being black and being gay aren't the same obviously, but both groups have faced similar discrimination at some point in history and still do around the world.

The only time a group would compare themselves to black people is when they're trying to make people see that "EVEN BLACK PEOPLE get this, so we should too." @urkelette No it is comparing the attitude of one group toward the attitude of two other groups. To the fundamentalist right the only people they've really respected in history have been white, Christian men. But it doesn't make all the minority groups in their eyes the same, but rather their attitude toward it the same. Gay people have gone through their hardships and black people have gone though theirs, not to mention women. The groups aren't the same, but the attitude has been similar.

Both had laws that restricted their freedoms and socially have been considered lower. No being black and being gay aren't the same obviously, but both groups have faced similar discrimination at some point in history and still do around the world.

To the fundamentalist right the only people they've really respected in history have been white, Christian men. But it doesn't make all the minority groups in their eyes the same, but rather their attitude toward it the same. Gay people have gone through their hardships and black people have gone though theirs, not to mention women. The groups aren't the same, but the attitude has been similar.

In some cases it is necessary to limit the rights of those who interfere with the rights of others, but your rights are not being affected by the gay marriage bill , therefore it shouldn’t be any of your business. If it goes against your religion and what you think, oh well, deal with it. . Every person has the right to life (what they want to do with their life), liberty, and the pursuit of happiness( getting married to the person they love).

When a group of people want to take the basic rights that they have, from a minority group then YEAH, it is a CIVIL RIGHTS ISSUE. No tolerance for religious beliefs? Are gays trying to make all churches marry them against there will? No. Are they taking your HOLY TAX exempt away from you? No, even thou I would. Homosexuality dates all the way back to the time of Alexander the Great. In medieval times, those found to be gay were beheaded or burned. So that's why there are no 2 kings.

Actually, this is EXTREMELY untrue. Homosexuality FAR predates Alexander. We know for a fact that homosexual behavior was prevalent in many cultures that predated Alexander. And the abundance of homosexuality in nature within animals supports that the suggests that it's been around much, much, MUCH longer than even humanity has been around.

@tskasa1 The fact that animals do it doesn't make it any more valid. Humans have a choice to go against natural desires that's what seperates us from animals. We don't just act on instinct but rather act upon both what is innately in us and what experiences have shaped us, but that all depends on an individual basis. One person may be predisposed to homosexuality more than another and another may have just been conditioned towards homosexuality.

Yes, you are correct. I forgot to mention that as I was trying to give in example to feenin4u247 comment on there not being two kings in history, as the church and Christianity had a large influence in public law, that would have made it impossible. I'm very sure there were gay kings but had to keep it either as a discrete affair relationship or for example like Alexander the great was rumored to have male lovers but had wives as well.

Thirdly, where in the bible does God himself actually say this. It is only, as far as I known, stated in Hebrews, which is a letter from one of Jesus' disciples to a group of people. Not a prophet, nor Jesus himself.
So, unless you want to say that Jesus' words are superseded by those of one of his disciples, you have no point.

How fair is that? And it's because the Church has condemned homosexuality that many people hold such homophobic views today. The Church can define what marriage is, but it's the Church that will have to deal with consequences of their decision. Tbh, if i were a gay, I'd just stay away from the Church
