  • When he says. what do you know about computers? The employee is like "oh bugger" :)

  • munchman...man that was an awesome game

  • Some years ago, they did a survey at a software company, which showed that many at the company in question (not named) got their start in programming by typing in those those infamous type-in listings (usually games) from computer magazines and books. So yes, this commercial does have a valid point.

SHIT WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO MY GAME!

  • I wonder if it can support Black Ops?

  • I remember this commercial when it was originally shown on TV. First computer I ever had was a Vic-20...paid $83 for it at K-Mart in 1983 when I graduated from grammar school. Couldn't do much with Vics, but a lot of us who are now IT professionals got our first taste of computing on early machines like these. They seem horribly primitive now, but back then, the world of home computing was completely different.

  • @KoremanB 8 cores. I need to upgrade my cpu, its only got 4 cores. I just love it when someone trys talking about something they dont have a clue about. If the Amiga 500 is 8 core, then my Amiga1200 must have at least 64, and the Amiga 4000 must have about...............

  • who would have thought that 30 years later we'd watch that commercial on our computers?

  • @GalenInYoFace --- Commodore for one, I sure as hell aint watching this on one of there computers.

  • @KoremanB The Amiga 500 was neither a 8 bit nor a 8 core computer. Amiga 500 was a 16 bit computer based on the 68000 motorola chip, plus a number of coprocessors which was the soul in why the Amiga was so great.

Acorn was most active in the 80s, but I guess you think of acorn arcimedes? Still late 80s / early 90s. Acorn was rather important in UK, being the computer students had in class (branded BBC)

  • I got Vic-20 from my uncle as a little kid (I was born in '86), it was antique already at that time, but that game where you bombed buildings to avoid crashing on them was great!

  • I had a Commodore Vic-20 when I was 16, the most useless piece of crap I ever owned!!

  • it was tough growing up in a computer age when your parents are too BS to buy one :(

  • these computers is verr nice i would wish to heve these computer ;-)

  • @marshalllucky Why? So you can spell incorrectly on those too?

  • @marshalllucky yes thenk you my fiend, i am agree with you the spactrum is much better the mechine than these comadore ;-)

  • this commercial actually has a very valid point. When I started PC gaming I learned how to build a rig, learning all about the hardware, and eventually learned to mod and do basic programing etc.

  • Woah! I totally remember this one!

  • The reason I bought a VIC - 20 in 1984 was because it had a REAL keyboard not a flat plastic press pad keyboard like the [ Texas Instruments ? ] and other computers of the time. I worked with a guy at the time that punked me off and said " What use is it ? WHAT can you DO with a computer ? " Some people just had no vision.

  • You can't compare a VIC-20 to an Amiga. It's like comparing a Tiger Moth biplane with a F-15 jet fighter. No contest. But then, like the VIC-20 and the Amiga, they both belong to different eras. I loved using a VIC-20, way back in the early 80's. It was a logical step to take at the time. The first widely bought home computer with colour and sound! Means nothing nowadays, but back then it really was one of the first.

  • @JFredUK Well the VIC-20 and the Amiga were made by the same people, just different generations.

  • @thatguyontheright1 Yup, both were Commodore creations, but the ViC-20 and Amiga 500 differed by about 6-7 years. A shame that the Amiga didn't have the power to take on both IMB-PC and Apple Mac, otherwise some of us might be using Amiga-descended machines now.

  • @JFredUK I never owned an Amiga so I wouldn't know how good they are. I didn't get my first computer till like 2000.

  • @thatguyontheright1 The Amiga wasn't bad at all, as far as prersonal computers went in the early 90's. The could give a 286 system a run for it's money. The Amiga has built-in Graphics and sound, which you would have to pay extra for if you got a PC, at the time. Making it a cheaper option. However, once Commodore got into financial trouble and ultimately went bust, they couldn't compete with the newer IBM-PC compatibles, and, as they say, the rest is history.

  • @JFredUK Instead of Apple iPhones, iPods, i, i "i", we might be using Amiga aPhones, aPods, "a" ("A"miga), hehehe. Wouldn't that be something? I wish a script writer, movie director, etc, when dealing with a sci-fi/movie about an "alternate reality/universe/earth", would slip in a reference to Apple going bust, & Amiga as taking it's place. Just a short reference in a movie, like a TV commercial featuring "Amiga's new aPhone!". I miss Commodore. I still love & play C64, thanks to emulation!

  • Holy crap, I remember watching this commercial on TV. It was the night of... the accident.

  • how did you get the video?

  • very informative to see these blasts from the past

  • I held more than 3K !!!

it was 3.8K thank you very much!

It was also exapandable all the way up to a whopping 16K!

  • i treasured my vic 20... treasured it dangnambit..

  • dick 20

  • the old guy reminds me of the nazi guy from raiders of the lost ark

  • 'Toht sells computers': Face melting not included.

  • these ad are so old but the dont lost the power. bye the way the comodore title song is a classic pieca by J.S.Bach. Check out my channel for more...

  • i own a commodore vic 20, works great! too bad the only tv that it works on sucks and that i dont have a cassette hook up for it.... other than that it works!

  • Do we know each other? I miss the old BBS day's were the only person you could talk "live" to was the sysop. Those were the day's....of 300 baud modems!

  • Amazing!

  • I remembered vic-20 and its not a great console... better the amiga

  • "I remembered vic-20 and its not a great console... better the amiga "

God, when these fucked comparisions of computers that have 100x memory difference and generation of technology difference stop.

    Amiga: minimum 512 KB RAM

VIC-20: 5 KB RAM, 2 KB system reserved, 3 KB for programms.

  • And it is a full fledged computer (Amiga too), not a "console".

  • lol that was only mine error

  • @m1omg I remember the Wright Flyer. It was not a good airplane. An F-22 Raptor is better.

  • @m1omg The Amiga 1000 was delivered with 256kB of ram. So minimum should be that. The Amiga however was a couple of generations after the vic 20 - and not even an original commodore product. They had envisioned a c65 which was far behind, and wouldn't have had the same impact on the marked at all.

  • Anyone remember those computer magazines that had the coding for games, apps, etc. printed out? Remember spending hours typing them in line by line, and then when you went to run it, it didn't work so you'd have to look for the typo? Ahh, memories.

  • I remember subscribing to: Computes Gazette, Run, and Family Computing just FOR those proggies! Some of those were truly legendary for their sheer size... and the bug hunts they caused! All fun though - kids nowadays are missing out! =)

  • Amazing! Very funny. I used VIC20 at school (years 1984-86). At home I was used to be a Commodore 64 user.

  • i first had a speccy , then a viccy , then a miggy ,,now i got a bloody state of the art duo speed tortoise lol

  • MunchMan kicks Pacman's ass! Link those chains!

  • The Theme music is Invention #13 in A minor (BWV784) By Johann Sebastian Bach

  • I haven't seen that in years. And, yes, I had a Vic-20.

  • WHAT'S A VIC20 BY C=?

  • I so remember this!

  • oh my God the man in the starts plays a role in the movie

"Coming To America" with Eddie Murphy hahaha! Cool commercial!

  • What is the classic music you can hear at the end?.

  • The music is by Johann Sebastian Bach, it is part of the Well Tampered Klavier. The individual piece is Invention #13 in A minor (BWV784). This piece ROCKS! I love playing it on the piano.

  • It's Mr. Belvedere!

  • I remember this ad!

  • The planet "mongo"?

  • planet mongo is from flash gordon.
