The Fortean assertion is useful to us whether true or not. Whatever works to wake up humanity to stop wars is worth it. It appears to me that various religions of old aren't functional in this regard. Others could add that prophecies are limiting and damaging to the human psyche. Some new religions are free of baggage, can't be disproved, can't be proved, but are functional at some simple level (e.g. Abraham-via Esther Hicks). I disagree with Darwin's Descent of Man, Galton, Malthus.
