not only am i goin to show this to a bunch of people its already on my favorite list. but i gotta know what ur sayin instead of kodachrome its the only part i couldn't make out with my chitty speakers. def got a reason to learn this song now. ur voice was spot on and its hard to find good parodies. great job
@brosifskee Thanks, bro! I do have plans to do a (serious) Paul SImon medley soon but glad you liked the parody. I've also got a few other song parodies on the back burner so I think I'll have to polish them off and post them, too, when time allows. I appreciate your spreading the word amongst your friends! Best, Stew aka 'the man of 1000 voices'
PS- The chorus begins with "I'm so stoned" in place of "Kodachrome" (in case your speakers still suck).
@srosenbach Thanks, I had fun putting this one together. Been working on a medley of Paul Simon songs (non-parody) that should be posted fairly soon if you're interested.
@knarisa Yeah, I noticed your music tastes on your channel, similar to my own. I cover quite a number of bands so feel free to browse and subscribe to mine if you like what you hear. I'm putting together a Paul Simon medley that I'll have posted shortly (not a parody though). Hope you'll check it out once it's up. Thanks for the comment!
Even though I wrote, sang and put together the song/video, I don't know how you would get a copy since I can't legally sell or distribute it. Obviously, I don't own the rights to any of the footage played in the background nor do I have permission from Paul Simon in terms of using his basic song melody when I wrote the parody of it. I don't know how guys like Weird Al obtains those rights. I guess the only suggestion I have is to share it by directing your friends here to watch. Thanks!
Thank you, Jaime. Glad you enjoyed the song parody. Got a few others on here and another in the works. Also, plenty of vocal impressions of rock/pop icons with more to come. Best, Stew (the man of 1000 voices)
I did write and perform the parody (in addition to the taping and editing of the piece) so I guess, for a copycat, it's as original as I can get. Thanks for the comment.
i'm not sure which song to love now. i mean kodachrome is an amazing song itself.but you've done something special with it.you literally combined two things i love most in this world..........thank you. so very much.
Too funny, esli, and you're very welcome. Kodachrome is an amazing song indeed so love the original more. Without it, the parody wouldn't be possible. Still, I'm pleased that you liked mine as much as you say. Feel free to pass it along to your friends. Most of my uploads here aren't parodies but you still might get into some of the tunes covered. Thanks for listening! Stew
Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing but I do appreciate the comment. Ideally, I'd like to hook up with someone who's an expert at make-up/hair and costuming and incorporate the visual side to the voices. Take someone like Frank Caliendo- he's a great impersonator but his Dr. Phil or Pacino wouldn't be nearly as good if he didn't look the part. Anyway, thanks for listening, Avery. Canada rocks!
Cool. Glad someone got a kick out of it. Noticed from your profile that you're from Canada-- my home away from home. Love it up there. Thanks for the kind words, man. Happy to have you as a subscriber. :)
Wow, some of these comments are way way too super-sensitive. Not a big fan of song parodies, but they are what they are and there's nothing really offensive about them. Seems the most important thing is knowing the song well and you obviously do as you've fit your lyrics pretty well.
Yea, I'd have to agree that I'm pretty familiar with this song, having sung the regular/original version countless times. I just got a little bored one day and started singing these alternative lyrics that popped into my head while practicing. Figured I'd throw it up here for a laugh. I've got quite a few parodies that are too risque to post(ie, Losing my erection-parody of an REM song) so lately I've been sticking to standards. Thanks for your comments, jose.
I realize that Kodachrome is a type of film. This was just a type of song parody, where I substituted different words to make it into a song about people who get stoned. Weird Al Yankovick does it all the time and makes millions. Anyway, thanks for watching and for the comment. Stew
Well, we actually play and sing too but your "parody" was not amusing. It might fit in the category of Dumb and Dumber. By the way, your not really a nice guy after all if you have to make personal attacks after hearing a negative opinion of your post. Karaoke bars may be more your speed. Sorry, maybe I was too harsh. Keep up the good work.
I can take honest criticism and welcome it. You started hurling insults about me not thinking straight and that I had "bastardized" a good song. I felt it only fair to defend myself. I noticed you had posted no material here so was I wrong to point that out? I've opened for some big names in the past & have had my share of successes. Sorry if you thought this was 'dumb & dumber'- I actually liked that movie. Not looking for an argument so I'll leave it at that. Good luck with your music.
It's called a song parody, dude. And for the record, I'm a big fan of Paul Simon's tunes and certainly wasn't making fun of the artist or his significant contributions to popular music. Also, since you appear to have posted nothing original yourself, your own intellectual capacity is probably more like a 10yearoldboys and not 10dudes. Always the way-those who can't create anything tend to criticize those who can. Oh yea, your mom's wondering when you're going to move out of the basement. ;)
OMG this is brillant! This is a kick-a** parody with backround photos that blend perfectly with the words. Your voice is right on, too! It IS bold to go a little non-PC, but hey it's other's problem if they can't see humor.... and this is funny. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for the kind words, cat. Really glad you liked it. I've got a few other parodies on youtube. Just punch the "more from: themanof1000voices" box to the right of the viewing screen if you're curious. Got lots more to come in the months ahead so I hope you'll check back sometime. Thanks again for your comments! Stew
Hey boo, It's not a problem. You can't please everyone. I mean, I know some people who actually dislike the Beatles so it's cool. I'm glad to hear that you at least liked my vocals. That's my main focus--alway has been. Thanks for the feedback. Stew
That's the whole idea, Rooti-- to sound as much like the original artist as possible. You saying so only means I doing a decent job of it. So many thanks for the compliment! I'm thrilled you liked it and will keep trying with other new artists in the weeks ahead. Hope you'll check back and let me know how I'm doing. ;) Stew
Thanks, Bonez! Really gald you liked it. "A History of Rock" is underway but a real challenge trying to lay down tracks and sound like everyone from Elvis to the Stones to the Police and Pearl Jam. I'm gonna give it my best shot. Thanks for the comment and for listening. Stew
My pleasure, B. It's comments like yours that give me the confidence to keep going. Really glad it made you laugh! I've got more parodies on the backburner but trying to focus on my most comprehensive upload- "A history of Rock"- which is taking forever. It won't be funny but I still hope you'll check it out when it's finished. Til then, Thanks for the nice words! Stew
Thanks! I almost didn't post this one since I didn't want people to misinterpret and think I was a total stoner or endorsed illegal drug use. lol. Once I found all the movie clips and the Lennon sound bite, I figured I was in good company and took the risk. I'm happy it gave you a giggle. Laughter is in short supply these days. ;) Stew
Thanks, love. I was listening to Simon & Garfunkel's concert in Central Park with Paul acknowledging "all the guys who are selling loose joints" when I came up with the idea for this parody. Always liked singing Simon stuff so I'm hppy you thought I sounded like him. The Beatles are my absolute favorite band so I was glad I could also include them into the mix. :) Stew
Wow, incredible! You sound more like Paul Simon than Paul Simon himself!
