I would not recommend walking out. Between bad ice areas and pile ups you may have to go 6 miles to go 3. We typically use airboats and snowmobiles, as a typical ride is at least four miles. Erie is extremely dangerous...current and winds both shift and eat away ice constantly. You can be on 12'' of ice and it will be eaten away to only 6'' in a few hours.Certain areas of the lake are known areas to stay away from. Look for a guide at Put-in-bay or out of the Catawba area.
did you guys ride out or walk. I am a very experienced ice guy and i want to drive up from pittsburgh and fish for eyes. any advice tips you can give would be great
